Kent County Prevention Coalition is Hiring a Coordinator of Support Services Near Grand Rapids, MI

Network180 is the public behavioral health community organization responsible for the delivery of mental health, substance abuse treatment coordination, and developmental disabilities services for Kent County. Individuals engaged in this position work as part of a team focused on efforts to positively impact substance use in Kent County, primarily with school-aged children. Efforts are led by the Kent County Prevention Coalition (KCPC), promoting the mission and goals identified in the 5-year Strategic Plan. The KCPC provides collaborative leadership of Coalition efforts and is comprised of community members and organizations representing twelve key sectors of the community. The responsibilities are diverse, focused largely on Coalition development, planning, and strategy implementation; community engagement with representatives from education systems and other organizations serving youth; and development and implementation of youth substance use prevention curriculum.

Candidates will strongly reflect the qualifications outlined below. Previous experience in Substance Use Prevention is not required.

The position is contracted, 10-30 hours per week with some variability, peak times being the typical academic school year. Work is conducted primarily remotely and in the community.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree in human services, health care, public health, social science, business administration or related field required, or at least two (2) years of experience in human services, health care, prevention, or related field.

· Detail-focused: Strategic thinker, ability to plan for the long term and make short-term adjustments, prioritize work depending upon the outcomes sought, while keeping the big picture in mind.

· Vision conscious: Must understand the robust nature of coalition work that over time, carries out the implementation of the five-year strategic plan.

· Upbeat and encouraging: Has the resilience to remain upbeat and hopeful across the span of work of the Coalition.

· Inquisitive: Investigative nature, invites critical assessment, ability to discern critical issues.

· Flexible: Open to new information, recognizes and respects personal and professional boundaries, supportive nature, and non-threatening nature.

· Understanding of Prevention: Ability to understand the characteristics of an effective substance abuse prevention coalition and skills needed to assist in building the capacity of the Coalitions.

· Relevant to youth: Experience and ability to design and deliver appropriate training materials using interactive learning models, with a major focus on youth.

· Ability to strategically plan and assess progress and effectiveness of efforts.

· Ability to facilitate and lead meetings if needed.

· Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize the workload.

· Ability to diffuse and resolve conflicts.

· Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and skills and capabilities of bridging language/cultural barriers to Network180 services within diverse communities preferred.

· Comfortable with technology and possesses basic computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, database management, and email.

· Possession of a valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation for job related use.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

· Willing to work toward gaining Certified Prevention Specialist credentials preferred.

· Lived experience with substance use disorders valued.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $19.00 - $21.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week

  • Monday to Friday
