Construction Assistant Project Manager Intern

Location: Various Job Sites

Reports to: Project Manager

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team as a Construction Project Manager Assistant. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the construction industry and to develop essential skills in project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Job Site Visits: Regularly check job sites to ensure compliance with safety protocols and standards.
  • Blueprint Reading: Read and interpret blueprints on-site to verify that work is being performed according to the plans and specifications.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect ongoing work to ensure it meets quality standards and project requirements.
  • Collaboration with Foreman: Double-check with the foreman on site regarding the scope of work and assist in managing tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communication: Serve as the point of contact between the field and the Project Manager, facilitating effective communication and coordination.
  • Reporting: Create and maintain daily and weekly reports to update the office on project progress and any issues that arise.
  • Multi-Tasking: Manage multiple tasks simultaneously, ensuring that all aspects of the project are progressing as planned.
  • Driving: Ability to drive to different project sites as needed.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Documentation: Assist in maintaining accurate project documentation, including logs, reports, and records.
  • Safety Audits: Conduct regular safety audits and report any potential hazards to the appropriate personnel.
  • Materials Management: Assist in tracking and managing the delivery and usage of materials on site.
  • Meeting Participation: Attend project meetings and assist in preparing meeting agendas and minutes.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and help resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site.
  • Support Tasks: Provide general support to the Project Manager and other team members as needed.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related program.
  • Basic understanding of construction processes and safety protocols.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction documents.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
