KPERS is located in Topeka, Kansas. We offer hybrid remote work schedule and employees are required to work onsite a specific number of days each week.
KPERS’ is beginning a five-year modernization project for a new pension administration system. We are looking for a Business Systems Analyst to join the KPERS Project Management Office to support both the existing pension administration software system as well as join the team driving the replacement of that system. The Business Systems Analyst is responsible for evaluating, designing and documenting functional system designs for agency business units. This position will lead KPERS business units through a system development life cycle (SDLC).

Essential Responsibilities
Participate/lead blended teams throughout the design, development and implementation of a business change process.
Actively support the Project Manager with project deadlines, business and budget objectives
Develop a knowledge of system capabilities and functions of assigned application software. Use this knowledge to recommend optimal solutions to business requirements that best leverages the product
Ensure that proposed system features and requirements meet user needs and satisfy business objectives and initiatives
Monitor team progress and provide status reports to KPERS BA Lead
Participate/lead meetings with subject matter experts (SMEs) to elicit, clarify and document business requirements for enhancements and PIRS
Identify process improvements and facilitate reengineering of business processes
Design user interface prototype screens and navigational flows
Prepare design specification artifacts defining business rules, outbound communication, reports, and input/output files
Document business process in a clear and concise manner
Facilitate Joint Application Design (JAD) or other design meetings with users
Support the sign-off process for design specification deliverables
Perform and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) as required in cooperation with the BA Lead and the QA Lead.
Assist the training team in creating and validating training materials
Document any identified required changes and communicate them to the relevant persons
Track system problem incident reports (PIRS) providing regular follow up for business units
Use IT resources at an advanced level to create IT solutions
Utilize data analytics software to pull data and create data reports
Learn the workflow designer tool of the new pension administration team, and work as a team member to document designs, define flows, configure correspondence and create forms.
Meet professional obligations through efficient work habits such as meeting deadlines, honoring schedules, coordinating resources and meetings in an effective and timely manner, and demonstrating respect for others
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned in order to meet the objectives of the Project Management Office (PMO) and KPERS.
Education Required
Bachelor's Degree in management information systems, computer science, business or related field. Experience may be substituted for education as determined relevant by the agency.
Experience Required
Three years of professional experience working in a Business Analyst role or similar position performing design, analysis and documentation for business solutions. Experience working in a pension administration or benefits claim environment is preferred.
