Southern Nevada Trades High School is Hiring a High School Science and Elective Teacher Near Las Vegas, NV

Grades

9th, and 11th

Position for 2024-2025 school year

HS Environmental Science and Elective Teacher (this position will teach a combination of Science and Elective classes throughout the day)

Reports to: Principal

Salary starting at $50,000

Southern Nevada Trades High School is the first trades focused Charter High School in Las Vegas. Our goal is to promote excellence in academic and career and technical education, preparing students for post-secondary education and careers in construction related professions. Through innovative career and technical training integrated with aligned academics, community partnerships, and individualized college and career-readiness planning, students’ passions for learning are ignited and they are prepared for success in postsecondary education and the workplace.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to pass pre-employment criminal history background check and fingerprinting.
  • Valid Nevada teaching license in HS Science or valid NV Substitute License w/ relevant classroom experience
  • Understands and implements the Nevada Academic Content Standards
  • Strong commitment to improve academic outcomes for students.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in communication, both oral and written, among parents, students, colleagues, and administration.
  • Knowledge of positive classroom management techniques and Restorative Justice Practices.
  • Inspires trust and models’ high standards of integrity.
  • Is a “team Player” who inspires others by example.
  • A dedication and commitment to the mission of SNTHS prepare students for post-secondary education and careers in construction-related professions.
  • Bilingual (not required but preferred)
  • Preferred Familiarity with Infinite Campus
  • Preferred Experience working with English language learners, special education students and GATE students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate knowledge, skill, and ability to provide instruction in a high school classroom.
  • Ensure opportunities for all students to learn in a supportive environment.
  • Create maintain a positive, orderly, and academically focused learning environment.
  • Develop and implement the components of an effective lesson plan with clear objectives and learning outcomes for all lessons, units, and projects.
  • Guide learning process towards achievement of curriculum goals, using a variety of instructional techniques and strategies aligned with NV Academic Content Standards.
  • Analyze student progress and provide appropriate instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide a classroom management/discipline plan ensuring safety at all times.
  • Implements and monitors Individual Education Plans (IEP’s) for students with disabilities, working collaboratively with the special education teacher.
  • Proctor school and statewide testing
  • Respond to student and parent/guardian issues and concerns via email or telephone in a timely manner (within 48 hrs)
  • Be available for all schedule parent/ student meetings and conferences.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of students’ attendance and grades as required by state law and school policies.
  • Participate in weekly PLC meetings and all scheduled professional development.
  • Maintain and improve professional competence.
  • Work professionally with administration, staff, parents, and community.
  • Perform all duties as assigned by Principal.
