Job Title: Class A CDL Driver (Container and Port Experience)
Position Overview: The Class A CDL Driver will be responsible for transporting goods to and from ports, container yards, and other locations, ensuring safe and timely delivery. The ideal candidate will have a valid Class A CDL license, experience operating commercial vehicles, and familiarity with port operations and container handling procedures.
Responsibilities:
Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport containers to and from ports, container yards, and customer locations.
Safely and efficiently load and unload containers using appropriate equipment and procedures.
Secure cargo using tie-downs, chains, and other securing devices to prevent shifting or damage during transport.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and container to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
Comply with all state and federal regulations governing the operation of commercial vehicles, including Hours of Service (HOS) regulations.
Maintain accurate records of vehicle inspections, mileage, and hours of service as required by law.
Communicate effectively with dispatchers, customers, and other team members to coordinate pickups and deliveries.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, including safety protocols and traffic laws.
Report any incidents, accidents, or equipment malfunctions to the appropriate supervisor or manager.
Follow instructions and meet delivery deadlines while prioritizing safety and customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Valid Class A CDL license with a clean driving record.
2 years of experience operating commercial vehicles, preferably in container transportation or port operations.
Familiarity with port terminals, container yards, and container handling equipment (e.g., chassis, reach stackers).
Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing the transportation of hazardous materials (HAZMAT) is a plus.
Ability to safely operate and maneuver commercial vehicles in various weather and road conditions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety in all aspects of the job.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting, bending, and climbing in and out of the vehicle and container.
