JOB TITLE: Communication Specialist
REPORTS TO: Director of Operations
LOCATION:
Rochester School District
Rochester, New Hampshire
The Communications Specialist will assist in carrying out essential tasks that pertain to the district website and social media accounts.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Creating, posting, and managing the district’s website including the accessibility of video recordings of full board meetings and committee meetings.
Responsible for sending press releases and robocalls.
Manage the district’s social media accounts.
Produce photos and video clips.
Producing a weekly newsletter for families, employees, and community members.
Creating and posting content to the district’s social media channels.
Taking photos that are high-quality for social media and the website.
Basic level graphic design of printed fliers, social media graphics, etc.
Traveling to schools to highlight events for social media, newsletter, website, etc.
Attending public events or public meetings as needed.
Additional tasks as requested.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent writing skills and an eye for compelling content that would resonate with a mass audience;
Experience producing social media and website content;
Experience in communications, public relations, marketing, or journalism.
Must be a proactive self-starter who can work both independently and as part of a team.
At least three years of experience working in communications and/or marketing, journalism, integrated marketing, public relations, or a relevant field.
Strong organizational skills.
Experience working under extremely tight and competing deadlines.
Experience using social media.
Experience posting website content.
Experience with graphic design using Adobe Illustrator, Canva, or similar software.
Experience with photo editing using Adobe Photoshop or similar software.
Experience with video editing using Adobe Premiere Pro, FinalCut Pro, or similar software.
Experience taking high-quality photographs.
Experience producing short video clips.
Must have reliable access to a motor vehicle.
Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s Degree.
Experience working for a public school district or higher education institution in a communications and marketing role.
COMPENSATION AND TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
This is a year round stipend position.
Flexible schedule: May work from home; on site as needed.
Stipend: $20,000
