For over 100 years Gerry Optical has been serving the greater Kansas City area. We specialize in providing a high level of optical care at an affordable price. We are a 3rd generation family owned company that always puts the customer first. With three doctors of optometry available and five convenient locations, Gerry Optical is able to meet your eye care needs. Each of our showrooms offer hundreds of frames from the top brands in the industry that will fit a variety of patients needs. Beyond the showroom floor, we have an in house full service lab at our 75th and Antioch main location. This allows us to provide a wide range of lens options as well as one hour service on some prescriptions.

Responsibilities:
- Assist patients in selecting and fitting eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Take accurate measurements of patients' eyes and facial features
- Interpret prescriptions written by optometrists or ophthalmologists
- Educate patients on proper eyewear care and maintenance
- Adjust and repair eyewear as needed
- Maintain inventory of eyewear and contact lenses
- Process insurance claims and handle medical billing for eyewear purchases
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient privacy

Skills:
- Senior care: Ability to provide personalized care and assistance to senior patients
- Medical billing: Knowledge of medical billing procedures and insurance claim processing
- Medical terminology: Familiarity with medical terms related to eye health and vision correction
- Retail math: Ability to perform calculations related to sales, discounts, and pricing
- Aseptic technique: Knowledge of sterile techniques for handling eyewear and contact lenses
- HIPAA: Understanding of patient privacy laws and regulations
- Laboratory: Experience with laboratory procedures related to eyewear fitting and adjustments
- Sales: Strong sales skills to effectively communicate with patients and promote eyewear products

Note: Prior experience as an optician is preferred, but we are willing to train the right candidate who possesses the necessary skills.
