We are seeking an experienced and passionate Bar Manager to lead our bar operations and contribute to the growth and success of our establishment.

Position Overview:

The Bar Manager at JAVA will oversee all aspects of bar operations, ensuring the highest quality service, cost-effective management, and exceptional guest experiences. The Bar Manager will be responsible for managing staff, maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and implementing effective strategies to increase profitability. The owner of JAVACOM also owns another thriving business in the Grove, presenting potential for growth and increased compensation opportunities for managing multiple sites.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Staff Management and Scheduling:

  • Schedule and conduct interviews for new hires, ensuring all prospective employees meet the standards and requirements of JAVACOM. Hiring decisions are subject to final approval by the owner.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules to ensure adequate coverage during peak hours while minimizing labor costs.
  • Provide ongoing training and development for bar staff to ensure a high level of performance and customer service.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate policies, procedures, and updates.
  • Supervise and manage all bar staff, including bartenders and barbacks.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages teamwork and high morale.

Customer Service:

  • Ensure exceptional customer service is provided to all patrons.
  • Handle customer complaints and resolve issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regular customers to enhance their experience.

Bar Operations:

  • Oversee daily bar operations, ensuring efficiency and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering and stocking of supplies, and conduct regular inventory checks.
  • Develop and implement bar menus, including seasonal and specialty cocktails.
  • Ensure the bar operates in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, including health and safety standards.
  • Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the bar area, ensuring a welcoming environment for guests.
  • Collaborate with the owner on menu development and promotions to attract and retain customers.

Communication and Reporting:

  • Provide daily updates to the owner regarding sales, staffing, and any significant events or issues.
  • Prepare and present detailed cost analysis spreadsheets to the owner, highlighting areas for potential savings and efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions, including daily sales, inventory levels, and labor costs.

Financial Management:

  • Perform regular cost analysis to monitor and control bar expenses, including labor, inventory, and overhead costs.
  • Develop and implement strategies to maximize revenue and minimize costs.
  • Handle closing reports, ensuring all cash management procedures are accurately followed and documented.
  • Oversee inventory management, including ordering supplies, tracking usage, and minimizing waste.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • 5 years of experience as a Bar Manager or in a similar role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of bar operations, including mixology, inventory management, and cost control.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle high-pressure situations.
  • Proficiency in using bar management software and POS systems.
  • Strong financial acumen and money management skills
  • A passion for the hospitality industry and a commitment to delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Strong self-awareness and motivation to succeed.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Capability to lift and carry items up to 25 pounds.

Compensation:

  • Base Salary: $50,000 per year
  • Performance Bonuses: Up to an additional $50,000 based on meeting or exceeding specific performance metrics.
