Vocational Technician

Disability Resources, Inc., is a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization that supports a community designed to enhance the lives of adults with intellectual disabilities. We are located in the great state of Texas and are currently seeking a relationship builder and difference maker in our Vocational Technician.

The Vocational Technician is responsible for the development and implementation of daily activities where each individual, develops their skills, and is encouraged to fulfill their full potential. This role is also responsible for facility utilization within the day program, maintenance of the Activity Center and administration of out nutrition plan.

The job duties for the position of Vocational Technician are below.

Job Summary: The Vocational Technician assumes the following job duties…

  • Oversee the vocational activities when clients are in Vocational department.
  • Know of and understand each client’s abilities, disabilities and interests in order to supervise and care for the clients effectively.
  • Know and maintain strict adherence to all DRI policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate State and Federal standards
  • Ensure all Vocational Center equipment is maintained
  • Work with vocational staff in all aspects of client’s vocational activities in planning and implementation of all DRI jobs, job placement and supervision of clients as may be required
  • Develop, implement, and monitor vocational activities to ensure daily participation of every client when possible.
  • Ensure that all activities protect the safety and health of the Clients.
  • Evaluates the client’s performance and conducts client’s case studies while working in Vocational.
  • Driving and making deliveries on routes.
  • Transport and accompanies residents to day programming areas, work sites, shopping trips, meals, church and other recreational outings.
  • Communicates and documents all resident medical, programming, behavior concerns to Supervisor, QIDP and RN staff as applicable.
  • Organize and complete day-to-day programming task to complete contracts by implementation of active treatment, supervision, and vocational programming.
  • Ensure the work areas meet safety requirements and provide a sanitary environment for the individuals. Report deficiencies to supervisor and maintenance.
  • Follow safety procedures when operating equipment.
  • Inspect and maintain all equipment and supplies for proper working order and safety. Perform preventive maintenance tasks when scheduled
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Current valid CPR certification
  • Current valid Texas Driver’s License and adhere to DRI driving policy

Environmental and Working Conditions:You will workatmultiple locations within the community campus. There may be times you attend off campus activities. You may be required to cover a specific shift and/or overtime as business needs see fit.

Physical and Mental Effort: Sitting, standing need to lift, pull, carry, and push items weighing up to fifty pounds. Frequent need to stoop, kneel, and reaching. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to utilize practical common sense and critical thinking is required.

Schedule:Your schedule is a Monday – Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. occasionally there may be times that you may be asked to stay past your normal shift or potentially come in on the weekend as business needs require.

Pay: From $12.00 per hour
