Seattle City Light is Hiring a Capital Projects Coordinator Near Seattle, WA

Position Description
Seattle City Light, a department of the City of Seattle, is one of the nation’s largest municipally owned utilities in terms of the number of customers served. Over the years we have worked very hard to keep Seattle's electricity affordable, reliable, and environmentally sound. Today, City Light is a recognized national leader in energy efficiency and environmental stewardship.
The Capital Projects Coordinator is responsible for the service territory wide streetlight LED conversion program. This includes identifying and replacing non-converted lights and researching, analyzing, field testing and implementing the next generation system wide streetlight upgrade. Other duties include, budgeting, streetlight controls, material standards, vendor and supplier management, community engagement, green tickets, glare complaints, and the annual contact voltage testing program. This position will report to the Engineering Capital Projects Manager.
Job Responsibilities
Here Is More About What You’ll Be Doing
  • Attends planning meetings to determine objectives, program plans and project scopes.
  • Develops and negotiates schedules for design and construction, monitors and coordinates activities of contractors, consultants, committees, community organizations, and users during construc­tion.
  • Coordinates consultant selection process. Prepares, negotiates and administers consultant agreements.
  • Develops contract and project specifications and negotiates contracts for design and con­struction of projects.
  • Coordinates review of design and construction work performed by consul­tants and contrac­tors.
  • Monitors and evaluates project construction and costs to monitor progress and ensure compliance to specifications and budgetary restrictions.
  • Authorizes payments to contractors.
  • Prepares and processes change orders.
  • Verifies accuracy of product and service invoices and project accounting.
  • Coordinates project closeout and budget reconciliation and evaluation.
  • Plans complex capital improvement and other City funded/sponsored projects by preparing necessary documents, providing description of project objectives, participant responsibilities, project description and project methodologies.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, advertisements, and official docu­ments and gives presentations.
  • Plans and develops a citizen participation plan to inform and explain project objectives and answer questions from the public, media and other agencies.
  • Performs other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned
QualificationsRequired Qualifications: In addition to the skills and experience mentioned below, a successful applicant will have experience that reflects a commitment to creating fair and equitable outcomes and has: Requires a minimum of three years project or construction management or related experience and a Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Business Administration, Urban Planning or related field (or a combination of education and/or training and/or experience which provides an equivalent background required to perform the work of the class).
Desired Qualifications - You will be successful if you have the following experience, skills, and abilities:
  • Strong knowledge of the PM framework,
  • Knowledge of vendor and supplier management
  • Experience with Microsoft office products and other typical office programs
  • Experience using WAMS and UI Planner.
  • Effective intradepartmental and community communication skills, highly organized and responsible.
  • Team oriented
  • Accountability and initiative with job responsibilities.

Additional Information
The full salary range for this position is $51.94 to $60.71 per hour.
