Coastal Kidz Early Learning Center is Hiring an Infant/Toddler Teacher Near Surfside, SC

We are seeking a devoted Infant/Toddler Teacher/Caregiver to help grow and nurture children 6weeks - 29months, in a safe and fun environment. We place great importance on the educational development and growth of children and expect you to be committed to enhancing their knowledge and skills. As our Teacher/Caregiver, you will play a vital role in guiding children through important developmental stages, communicating with parents, and building relationships with your children, parents/guardians, and fellow coworkers. You should be calm, friendly, patient, and positive with our little ones as they are just beginning to learn social and communication cues, help foster growth, and instill positive lifelong values. Your objective will be to coordinate, create, and plan, weekly lesson plans and supervise children's activities at all times while ensuring proper behavior and safety requirements. You should enjoy working with early childhood aged children, possess high attention to detail, have the personality and ability to provide leadership and stability for program continuity, and a willingness to go above and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, implement, and supervise our infant/toddler program in accordance with the policies, philosophy, and core values of the center by gearing them to the needs of our children with concern for their interests, special talents, individual style, and pace of learning.
  • Consider individual children in relationship to their culture and social economic background, treat children with dignity and respect, and help children become aware of their roles as integral members of a group/their community.
  • Teach children the basics of communication and encourage social interaction with other peers while maintaining children's behavior in accordance with the rules and regulations in place (safe environment, good hygiene, etc.,).
  • Give daily reports to parents, communicate with them to ensure a positive relationship, and conduct parent conferences on children's school adjustment and classroom behavior/s.
  • Be responsible for ordering arrangements, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom, participate in extra-curricular events, organize activities to be performed by the children (dance, singing, theater, etc.,), and hold festivities/parties to celebrate special occasions like birthdays, holidays, seasonal events (Thanksgiving, Winter Carnival, etc.,).
  • Develop daily and weekly lesson plans for various classroom activities (art, indoor play, outdoor recreation, science, STEM, math, etc.,), conduct said activities, and plan age appropriate, educational and fun activities for children (puzzles, games, coloring, etc.,).
  • Ensure that when you are absent due to vacation or illness you notify the center Director and have a substitute staff member available to provide care in your place (policy in employee handbook).
  • Asses the development of children, ensure the smooth coordination of classroom activities, and promote positive interactions between children and staff.
  • Attend all staff meetings, recommended programs, and required trainings.
  • Responsible for annual employee training per SC DSS requirements and filling out and turning in of your bi-weekly timesheets to the center Director.
  • Show positive teamwork skills by accepting other various tasks asked of you by center administration and directors.

Requirements:

  • Undergraduate Degree from a State approved College or University in Early Childhood, Child Development, or related field with 60 days of field experience with a group of children aged 2.5 years - 12 years (if no experience must be supervised at all times)
  • Valid High School Diploma or GED Certificate with 6 months experience (if no experience must be supervised at all times)
  • Pass a state and federal background/fingerprinting check (can't work with children until this process has been completed and results have been obtained)
  • Complete 15-25 hours of required continuing education training within early childhood education & management training per the center Director
  • Have or be willing to receive a valid Pediatric and Infant/Child CPR and First Aid Certification
  • Have an annual TB test with negative results and physical every two years
  • Abide by and meet all SC DSS state licensing requirements

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
