The Salvation Army Midland Division is Hiring a Driver Near Marion, IL

The Salvation Army Midland Division Thrift Store located in Marion, Illinois, is looking for a Driver! This position is expected to drive the Corps vehicles to make pickups and deliveries of both personnel and materials.
This is an under 20 hour per week position.

Essential Functions
  • Operate a motor vehicle that transports 12 or less passengers and is 26,000 pounds or less gross vehicle weight rated.
  • Make deliveries and pickups for Sunday meetings, Tuesday evening corps activities, Wednesday evening corps activities, and other corps activities as scheduled/directed. Other special events may require the driver’s participation.
  • Assist in loading and unloading materials.
  • Maintain vehicles; keep them clean and ready for use. Report any vehicle maintenance problems to the Corps Officer.
  • Maintain positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relationships with co-workers, supervisor(s) and Corps visitors. This would include but not be limited to such actions as: courteous treatment to others; respect of others’ property and person; and professional and appropriate communication to and about co-workers, supervisors, and Corps visitors.

Education And Experience
  • High school/equivalent diploma and one-year related work experience or two years work experience without diploma.
  • Position requires basic communications with customers and other employees.
  • Have the appropriate valid drivers’ license (e.g., Class E for MO or Class JO2 for IL) and pass TSA MVR check.
  • Ability to comprehend written job description, city map, cleaning instructions and material safety data sheet.
  • Must be a team player, a self-starter, and perform well with minimum supervision.
Physical and Working Conditions
  • Must be capable of performing the essential duties.
  • Frequently lifts 25 pounds and occasionally lifts to 50 pounds. Majority of lifting is from floor to waist high.
  • Some lifting required above waist and shoulder high, but it will be at a reduced weight.
  • Position is expected to: Bend, stoop, crouch, stand, walk, carry and push/pull items.
  • Most of this work will be outside.
  • In the winter it will be cold and in the summer it will be hot.
