Burke Rehabilitation is Hiring a Part-time, Gift Shop Coordinator Near White Plains, NY

JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Volunteers, the Gift Shop Coordinator is responsible for the overall performance and day to day operation of the Gift Shop, including maximizing profitability, merchandising, purchasing, Gift Shop financials, maintaining inventory, operating register and managing point of sale system. The Coordinator will also oversee and train all Gift Shop volunteers.
Work Performed
  • Warmly welcomes customers into the Gift Shop.
  • Collaborates with Director of Volunteers, Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers, Gift Shop Volunteers and co-workers in a positive manner.
  • Assists customers with their purchases.
  • Secures and maintains viable vendors for ongoing merchandising; seeks out new vendors to bring "fresh" products to the Shop, including local artisans in the community who are seeking exposure.
  • Orders monthly inventory, receives all goods, ensuring proper invoice charges, proper pricing of merchandise and rotation of stock.
  • Reviews and submits invoices for payment.
  • Manages cash register system including updates, operation/training materials.
  • Collaborates with Hospital Auxiliary Volunteers regarding Gift Shop financials, keeping them abreast of financial status of the Shop.
  • Records and analyzes sales figures, interprets trends and forecasts future sales volumes to maximize profits.
  • Collaborates with finance department weekly, regarding cash sales.
  • Manages and trains all Shop Volunteers - informs them of any changes in the Shop.
  • Handles all Gift Shop related mail.
  • Keeps shelves free of dust, handles/arranges/designs all merchandise displays in the Shop.
  • Manages store supplies and merchandise in back room of Shop and in Gift Shop storage closet.
  • Practices Standard Precautions. Follows regulations, policies and guidelines on the prevention of infections; does not eat or drink in patient care areas.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information; abides by HIPAA regulations.
  • Maintains a professional image and follows Hospital’s policy on uniforms; consistently wears hospital ID.
  • Demonstrates reliable, on-time attendance, which is an essential function of all jobs at Burke.
  • Completes mandatory annual learning (Learning Harbor) within deadline.
  • Personally adheres to Burke C.A.R.E.S. philosophy by demonstrating compassion, accountability, respect and exceeding expectations through service excellence.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Education And Experience Required
  • High school or GED required. Associates degree (or higher) preferred - must be able to read and write English.
  • Background in retail, sales, merchandising preferred.
  • Computer skills: MS Word, Excel, Outlook; cash register system (training provided).
