We are seeking a Platform Engineer to join our client's Cloud Operations team and play a pivotal role in optimizing our development processes and infrastructure. The Platform Engineer will collaborate closely with Development, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering teams to streamline containerization efforts, enhance local development effectiveness, and bridge the gap between local and hosted environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical background in Microsoft and AWS technologies, along with expertise in CI/CD, infrastructure as code, containerization, and software development lifecycle methodologies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collaborate with Development, DevOps, and Cloud Engineering teams to refine and optimize our CI/CD pipelines, leveraging automation to accelerate software delivery.
• Drive containerization strategies using technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes to improve scalability, reliability, and portability of applications.
• Enhance local development effectiveness by implementing tools and processes that mirror production environments, ensuring consistency and reliability from development to deployment.
• Partner with Cloud Engineers to implement proper telemetry into the code for monitoring and alerting downstream.
• Implement CI/CD principles and utilize Azure DevOps Services for code build and deployment automation.
• Leverage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles with Terraform to provision, configure, and manage cloud resources.
• Utilize PowerShell, Python, or Bash scripting to facilitate automation of tasks to ensure consistency and reliability of processes.
• Work with Docker and Kubernetes for container orchestration and management, and ECS Fargate for serverless container deployment.
• Champion best practices for software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, ensuring code quality, version control, and continuous integration.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to build, deployment, and infrastructure to maintain optimal performance and uptime of applications.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to continuously improve development and deployment processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and/or 2 years of practical experience as a Platform Engineer or similar role in a fast-paced environment.
• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, Developer, or DevOps Engineer with a focus on .NET/C# application development.
• Expertise in scripting and automation with PowerShell, Python, and/or Bash.
• Expertise in containerization technologies such as Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes and ECS Fargate.
• Very comfortable with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile software development methodologies.
• Proficiency in Microsoft technologies such as Windows Server, IIS, and SQL Server.
• Knowledge and understanding of container networking requirements.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

• Solid understanding of CI/CD principles and experience with related tools like Azure DevOps Services, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI/CD.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform to manage (a) production environment(s).
• Hands-on experience with AWS services including EC2, Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, as well as IAM policies and VPC Security Groups.
