Construction Estimator Virginia Beach, VA
TD -SC, a Class A Contractor with extensive experience in government and commercial construction projects, seeks a skilled Estimator. The Estimator will be responsible for accurately estimating costs across various contract types (lump sum, line item, time/material, design/build), ensuring adherence to project scopes and specifications. Key responsibilities include analyzing project documentation, conducting quantity take-offs, evaluating subcontractor quotes, and preparing comprehensive bid proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
· Analyze drawings, specifications, and proposals to prepare detailed estimates for projects.
· Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor quotes, ensuring alignment with project requirements.
· Prepare project bid status reports and manage bid compliance with specifications.
· Assist in negotiating scope and pricing with subcontractors.
· Conduct value analysis and recommend cost-efficient alternatives.
· Monitor ongoing proposals and collaborate with internal teams to fulfill bid requirements.
· Foster relationships with new and existing trade contractors.
Position Requirements:
· Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Minimum of 3 years' experience in estimating for a commercial general contractor.
· Proficiency in RS Means, Gordian, or similar unit price books.
· Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
· Strong negotiation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
· Familiarity with technologies such as Adobe and BlueBeam is beneficial.
· Willingness to travel to job sites as required.
