Description:

The HVAC Trainer is responsible for developing, implementing, and delivering training programs to HVAC technicians and apprentices, with a particular focus on integrating the Nexstar 6 Step Process. This role involves creating comprehensive training materials, conducting hands-on workshops, and ensuring trainees are proficient in HVAC systems, customer interaction, safety protocols, and industry standards. The trainer will also evaluate the effectiveness of training programs and continuously improve them to meet the evolving needs of the company and industry.

Key Responsibilities:

· Training Program Development:

  • Design and develop curriculum and training materials for maintenance and repair of HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration, incorporating the Nexstar 6 Step Process.
  • Develop training programs focused on customer interaction, communication skills, and customer service excellence.
  • Create instructional materials, and video tutorials that cover practical skills.
  • Stay updated with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices to incorporate into training programs.

· Training Delivery:

  • Conduct multi-day training sessions for new hires, apprentices, and experienced technicians, emphasizing the Nexstar 6 Step Process and customer interaction skills.
  • Quick hit daily morning trainings to reinforce specific lessons taught in more concentrated multi-day training sessions
  • Demonstrate installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair techniques on HVAC equipment.
  • Conduct ride-alongs with technicians to reinforce the in-field adoption of skills taught in the “classroom”
  • Utilize various teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and levels of experience.

· Continuous Improvement:

  • Evaluate the effectiveness of training programs through feedback and performance metrics.
  • Collaborate with the COO, General Managers and Service Managers to identify areas for improvement.
  • Update training materials and methods to enhance learning outcomes and efficiency.

· Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all training programs comply with company policies, industry regulations, and safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety and emphasize the importance of adhering to safety protocols.

· Technical Support:

  • Serve as a technical resource for Service Managers and HVAC technicians, providing guidance and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s HVAC systems and equipment.

Qualifications:

· Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or vocational training in HVAC preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in the HVAC industry, including hands-on technical work.
  • Previous experience in training or instructional roles is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with the Nexstar 6 Step Process (or similar) is a strong advantage.

· Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, including installation, maintenance, and repair.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and effectively teach diverse groups.
  • Proficiency in creating training materials and using instructional technology.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to train others in effective customer interaction.

· Certifications:

  • HVAC certification (e.g., NATE, EPA 608) strongly preferred.
  • Certification in adult education or training (e.g., Certified Technical Trainer, CTT ) is a plus.

Working Conditions:
