Quality Assurance Inspector I Role: The Quality Assurance Inspector will perform basic and routine inspection of products manufactured or processed by private companies to ensure compliance with engineering specifications. This position ensures that all assigned duties are performed quickly, efficiently, and according to the established departmental and company policies, procedures, and goals. In addition to product inspection, this role will assist and support the warehouse functions of the Santa Teresa, New Mexico, Legrand facility.
The Quality Assurance Inspector, as with all members of the Team, is expected to promote a positive attitude, demonstrate initiative, professionalism, personal awareness, integrity, and exercise confidentiality.
Main Activities: Organization: Individual Contributor competency model.
Main Interface: Internal Impact – Operations, Engineering, Sales, Finance. External Impact – vendors, other business entities.
Budget: No direct budgetary responsibility.
Main Job Duties:
  • Independently perform routine tasks to inspect product.
  • Independently perform PCA/part/subassembly/finished product build and quality validation sampling.
  • Perform quality inspection audits to IPC 610A standard for printed circuit boards, soldering criteria, leadfree connections, fillet criteria, cleanliness, and failure modes.
  • Perform tests on product to determine approval or rejecting and writes report of examinations.
  • Identify and disposition non-conforming parts, assemblies and finished good products.
  • Independently perform quality audits of various types.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate physical and functional product defects.
  • Perform work in a safe manner. Report repairs or safety concerns to management.
  • Maintain compliance with all ISO 9001 regulations and procedures.
  • Perform warehouse receiving, storage and shipping functions as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education: Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience: At least one year of experience and knowledge of PDU product and Legrand quality standards.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
  • Ability to read and interpret orthographic drawings.
  • Familiar with mechanical measurement equipment and tooling.
  • Ability to understand and apply the elements of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to provide information across multiple groups.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to resolve problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
  • Read and understand BOMS, Wiring and Layout diagrams for use in product build verification.
  • Familiarity of ISO 9000 standards and audit process preferred.
  • Familiarity with SAP software is preferred.

Work environment is fast-paced and priorities can shift quickly. All employees are expected to go outside their primary responsibilities when required, and multi-task job duties on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs/ladder; balance; stoop, kneel crouch or crawl; talk, and hear. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and may rarely lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
