Role Description: 

Lola Hospitality is a renowned and beloved brand committed to providing authentic and quality hospitality experiences. We are seeking a dynamic and strategic Controller who will be instrumental in overseeing accounting, compliance and financial operations. This individual must be a strong communicator and skilled financial analyst. This individual will assist in growing the brand and department. The LoLa Hospitality Controller will lead the accounting and finance department of LoLa Hospitality Holdings and the corresponding entities and unit restaurant locations. This includes maintaining fiscal records, compiling month/year-end reconciliations, overseeing unit and location compliance records, development and maintaining internal controls and processes, preparing financial reports, and managing payables and day-to-day financial activity at unit level restaurants. 

This role will report directly to the Director of Hospitality of platform ownership (NDT Development). This role will be in-person, working at our office in West Palm Beach, with flexibility to travel to restaurants and work remote when applicable. The ideal candidate has 4 to 7 years of proven industry experience as an accountant who is looking to take the next step in their career and assist in growing a department and brand. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Prepare timely monthly financial statements and board reports 
  • Complete month-end and year-end close process
  • Prepare budget, financial forecasts and report variances
  • Partner and lead relationship with outsourced accounting firm 
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance 
  • Ensure quality control over financial transitions and financial reporting
  • Partner with payroll admin to ensure compliance and forecasts are in-line and accurate 
  • Oversight of processing of payables, receivables and other day-to-day business transactions
  • Manage company funds, ensuring adequate balances are maintained in bank accounts
  • Manage company’s weekly cash flow and provide periodic reporting as required to management and board of directors
  • Manage and comply with local, state and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings 
  • Prepare any ad-hoc financial analysis and reports upon request for C-level executives, department heads, and/or project managers to support strategic organizational initiatives 
  • Consistently measure task strategies and efficiency, as well as project performance, to identify areas of improvement 
  • Any other task that may be called upon to be completed, at the discretion of leadership or board of directors 

Qualifications:

  • 4 years of overall combined accounting and finance experience 
  • Ability to work independently, with excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills 
  • Ability to prepare and understand detailed financial analysis
  • Advanced degree in Accounting or Finance (Bachelor’s or higher) 
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting principles and procedures (GAAP)
  • Experience with the general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close process
  • Experience in creating financial statements and reports for board meetings 
  • Excellent accounting software user and administration skills
  • Exemplary Excel and Google Sheets skills required 
  • CPA highly preferred 
  • A foundational knowledge of the hospitality or restaurant industry and operations strongly preferred 
  • Basic understanding of Human Resource, Compliance, specifics is preferred
