Business Development Manager

A Japanese electronics manufacturer is currently recruiting for a Business Development Manager to join their European Team in the Nuremberg area.
The Business Development Manager will work in their Industry Sales Division, focusing on the German Industrial market.
In this role, you will be responsible for expanding the existing business within defined Industry Accounts by actively working on new business development opportunities with prospective new customers.
TYPE: Full-time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: 08:30 - 17:00 (Monday- Thursday) and on Fridays 08:30-16:00 (including 30mins lunch break)

LOCATION: Nuremberg, Germany (Currently at least 2 days in the office, 3 days’ work from home – this may change depending on the company’s decision.)

Business Development Manager Main Responsibilities:
• Establish sales target plans, midterm, yearly and monthly, by customer, by sales team
• Develop a sales strategy and sales activities for the responsible target customers
• Establish an action plan to achieve the target/s
• Analyse results versus budget / target and initiate corrective action plan
• Develop new business based on action plan
• Develop and follow-up new and existing projects
• Negotiate commercial contracts including all conditions (e.g. pricing, payment terms)
• Negotiate other (legal) documents such as NDA with customers and prospects
• Support the Finance department in order to collect outstanding receivables
• Support the Quality Control department in order communicate quickly and adequately in case of quality issues or other complaints
• Support the Marketing team to collect necessary customer and market data
• Train, support and work closely together with the Inside Sales team
• Perform all necessary communication and correspondence with customers
• Perform, whenever required, all necessary communication and correspondence with
customers and other their offices outside the area of responsibility
• Perform ongoing communication with Head-quarters in Japan
• Coordinate "transfer" business outside the area of responsibility with the "transfer-in"-location
• Prepare various reports, such as customer visit reports, monthly (sales) reports, 3 months
rolling forecast and constant project updates
• Report to the Industry Sales Manager on a regular base
Business Development Manager Ideal Candidate:
• Minimum of 5 years’ Business Development experience for an industry supplier or manufacturer, or connector and/or electromechanical products
• Significant experience in the Industrial business
• Strong capability for business planning, project management and forecast control
• Ability to develop and arrange promotional tools and materials required for the business
• Willingness to travel frequently within Germany and to the European Headquarter on a
frequent basis
• Fluency in English and German and preferably additional European language
• Technical knowledge: ability to fully understand the technical details
• Traceable negotiation skills, be a self-starter, and a strong closer
• Ability to manage complex and time intensive sales cycles
• Leadership & coordination abilities of cross functional teams
• Stress resiliency and structured personality
• Pan-European and international orientation
• Knowledge of or experience in working in a Japanese organization is a clear plus
