Research & Development – Specialist

We have a significant opportunity for a dynamic R&D Specialist in our organization. We are a healthcare company in the process of commercializing our FDA approved products that are setting a new standard in the anti-microbial arena – products that safely and effectively address wound and skin infections, promote wound healing and improve surgical outcomes. The position provides the chance to work with a motivated and high energy team and to contribute to and participate in our success. 

Desirable Attributes

• Bachelor’s Degree in in biology, chemistry, life sciences or engineering.
• At least one year experience in product development in the medical device industry or similar highly regulated environment.
• Candidate must be highly motivated with good computer literacy, writing and communication skills.
• Familiarity or experience with FDA and ISO quality management systems and quality documentation.
• An understanding of the requirements of GLP and GMP.
• Self-driven individual with excellent work ethic and a can-do attitude.
• Active learner with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented, start-up environment.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

1. Prepare solutions, specimens and samples for testing. 
2. Maintain and operate standard laboratory equipment and practices. 
3. Take Ownership for the organization, cleanliness and storage of all lab equipment, materials and surfaces.
4. Assist in maintaining the Company Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 13485 and 21 CFR, part 820.
5. Document product design, quality and production activities. Support in writing technical/quality reports, SOPs, specifications, work instructions, among other quality, design and production documentation.
6. Track and publish R&D and quality metrics.
7. Perform physical-chemical testing to support product development. 
8. Support ongoing process development and prototype manufacturing. 
9. Document experiments and results in Laboratory notebooks with full traceability. 
10. Conduct searches on identified topics relevant to the research. 
11. Ensure strict adherence to relevant safety procedures.
