The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking a patient centered 80% Staff Nurse to work within our growing Primary Care Clinic location in Cedar Rapids. Our teams specialize in the care of everyone in the family, in every generation, from birth, for life. This position will mainly support our Family Medicine Clinics but could float to other patient specialties/clinic locations including but not limited to: Pediatrics and/or Specialty/Outreach Clinics.
Our Family Medicine staff can see everyone in the family, in every generation, from birth, for life. And when anyone in the family needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects our patients with the UI Health Care specialist needed. If a patient needs specialty care, our family medicine provider connects them with the UI Health Care specialist for their needs. UIHC specialists will consult the same medical record used by our family medicine provider so our patients specialty care is streamlined. This position will support the clinic in providing phone triage support, helping with prior authorizations, as well as assist with nurse visits.
Our Pediatric Clinics specialize in the care of infants, children, and adolescents and provide a range of services from well-child care, to basic childhood immunizations and illnesses, to managing complex medical conditions and chronic disorders. University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital team works hand-in-hand with all pediatric specialists at UI Stead Family Children’s Hospital and uses one electronic medical record for each patient which ensures constant and timely communication between the patient and the entire medical team. Our Medical Assistants develop relationships and get to know our patients and monitor patient care history and deliver personalized, compassionate care every time to each patient.

This position supports our clinics team-based care model spending more time within patient care as well as FREE on-site parking!!

Percent of Time: 80% (32 hours per week)
Schedule: Variable hours; completed within the clinic hours of Monday 8:00 AM - 8:00 PM, Tuesday - Thursday 8:00 AM - 7:00 PM, Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, occasional Saturday hours from 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM. no holiday time, no on-call time.

Salary: $54,282 - $99,572 (based on years of experience)
Education
An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing, Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required
Required Qualifications
Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
General computer skills are required.
Current course completion card in Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association.
Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.
Highly Desired:
1 - 2 years Pediatric nursing experience.
Previous EPIC experience.
Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing is highly desired.
The ability to adapt quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is crucial. Float nurses must be comfortable working in various departments and clinics such as primary care and specialty services.
If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
Ambulatory nursing care experience, including telephone triage experience in the outpatient setting.
Collaboration with other healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and ancillary staff, is essential for providing comprehensive patient care.
A strong foundation in clinical nursing skills is essential, including proficiency in assessment, medication administration, critical thinking, and patient education.
