Barkan Meizlish DeRose Cox, LLP is looking for a SUPERSTAR to join our team as a Paralegal/Case Manager for our Personal Injury/Medical Malpractice department. Description:

At BMDC, the duties of the Personal Injury Paralegal are varied with a strong focus on accuracy, detail, and efficiency. This is an in-office position and requires previous experience. Clients seek this firm’s professional services often due to a very traumatic event in their lives, and we pride ourselves on delivering top notch, timely, compassionate client care. This position requires self-motivation, initiative, and skills.

Requirements:

  • Experienced in requesting medical records and bills. Familiarity with records portals; (i.e. Ciox, Chart Swap, Arctrieval, Medicare/Medicaid, etc.).
  • Experienced in requesting other types of records; (i.e. police reports, photos, witness statements, and body/dashboard camera footage).
  • Effectively communicate with insurance companies.
  • Effectively communicate with lien holders and/or subrogation interests. Experience with insurance payments and write-offs.
  • Experience with case management software and organizing case documents.
  • Ability to prepare demand and settlement packages accurately and efficiently for attorney review. Takes the lead to communicate with team of any hurdles or obstacles.
  • Communicate frequently with clients. Provide additional information and resources to the client and attorney, if applicable. Must have consistent communication touchpoint with all open cases.
  • Accurately and efficiently schedule telephone calls or meetings with clients.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Meticulous attention to accuracy, detail, and organization.
  • Familiarity with stages of a personal injury/medical malpractice case.
  • Must be able to effectively prioritize and multi-task. Be able to embrace challenges and handle feedback calmly even in high-stress situations.
  • Have a fast-paced, can-do work ethic that allows you to meet tight deadlines (24-hour deadline with a to-do list a mile long? No problem!).
  • Must maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Exhibit an infectious can-do attitude.
  • Ability and willingness to learn and use the firm’s software applications.
