Summary

The Wine and Spirits Specialist is responsible for stocking, rotating, facing, and building displays as required. Providing accurate and timely checkout experience for customers. The Wine and Spirits Specialist promotes Mackenthun's Exceptional Experience by greeting every customer with a smile and assisting customers with questions about Mackenthun's, and The Cove.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

The Cove Specialists are expected to:

- Ensure proper handling of security procedures and cashiering needs

- Place delivered and back stock product into cooler cases and shelves, to properly rotate and face product, clean shelves/cases/displays, and ensure advertised items are restocked in an efficient and timely manner.

- Develop a clear understanding of ordering, pricing and shelf management and how these processes relate to inventory control.

- Organize and maintain proper sanitation in the warehouse area and department. 

Other Duties

- Assist and support the manager in training new team members.

- As needed, assist with general building maintenance including, but not limited to, shoveling snow, cleaning store entrance and exit, sweeping/mopping floors.

- Assist with and participate in Mackenthun's Experience events by providing proper signage, creative merchandising, and involvement with promotions that make Mackenthun's unique.

- Minimize department losses due to damaged, mishandled or out-dated product.

- Perform duties in a manner that safeguards company equipment, resources and image.

- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Qualifications

- High School diploma or GED equivalent recommended. 

- Must be 18 years of age or older

- Stock experience preferred, but not required.

- Must be able to work independently and as a team, have solid problem solving skills and excellent decision making capabilities. 

- Ability to prioritize and efficiently perform duties.

- Must be able to prioritize, efficiently perform duties, and delegate tasks. 

- Express a positive attitude, focus on customer needs and provide excellent customer service.

- Must have strong math skills. 

- Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings.

Communication Requirements

- Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.

- Must understand and display proficiency in resolving conflict through leadership and discussion.

- Understand how and when to motivate using praise and proper correction.

- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

- Must be able to communicate a consistent message through proper use of strong business and moral ethics that support Mackenthun’s vision and commitment to our employees and customers.

Physical Demands

- Constant standing/walking/talking/hearing and seeing for long periods of time. 

- Frequent bending at waist, reaching arm’s length/above shoulders/below waist, crouching/stooping/kneeling, climbing stairs, and lifting and carrying up to 70 lbs. and pulling/pushing up to 2,500 lbs. with a use of a pallet jack. 

- This position requires close/distance/peripheral vision, depth perception and color vision.

Training

- Training provided in current Dairy Department Standards and Procedures, personal safety and harassment prevention.

- May be trained on operation of lift truck, pallet jack, inventory and ordering equipment, and/or delivery procedures. 

Equipment Used

- Lift truck, box cutter, pallet jack, compactor, company vehicles. 

Work Environment

- Must be able to work in a fast paced environment, constantly in a refrigerated cooler of 30 degrees and be able to work alone or in a team and be flexible as to the task at hand.

- Possible exposure to cleaning chemicals.
