Position Summary: Guest reception is the most important job. Complete attention to the welcoming process is the first opportunity you will have to ensure the guest feels at home. After the guests’ initial needs are met, you are expected to assist Front Office Management in supervising daily activities in the front office, including the front desk, garage operation and shuttle driver.
Essential functions: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
1. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of the hotel property to guide guests and answer questions.
2. Greet customers immediately with a friendly and sincere welcome. Use a positive and clear speaking voice, listen to and understand requests, respond with appropriate action and provide accurate information
3. Assist guests with arrival and departure check-in and check-out procedures, while providing excellent guest service, ensuring brand standards. Coordinate guests needs with Housekeeping and Maintenance as needed.
4. Promptly answer telephone using positive and clear communication.
5. Remain calm and alert especially during emergency situations and heavy hotel activity.
6. Prevent problems and handle stressful situations in a professional manner, to ensure guest satisfaction and resort profitability.
7. Demonstrates the ability to show tact, courtesy and diplomacy in difficult situations.
8. Ensure the accuracy and completion of all folios, room changes, credit approvals, etc.
9. Display a high degree of professionalism at all times.
10. Demonstrate the ability to handle a cash bank and adhere to all cash handling policies and responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or GED plus 2 years’ administrative hotel front desk experience or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the above skills, knowledge and ability.
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ hotel/resort experience at the front desk is preferred or other hospitality guest service experience.
● Ability to verbally communicate with guests and fellow team members in English. A second language skill is helpful.
● Ability to follow directions and handle stress with ease.
● Able to handle cash or credit card transactions.
● Proficiency with computers including Microsoft Office and Outlook applications. General office equipment and cash register operation knowledge is expected.
● Able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time.
● Able to push, pull, carry, bending, stooping and upward reaching motions.
● Able to work in a team and be detailed oriented.
● Must be able to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
