Salary Range: $30.58 - $34.09/hourly plus a $120/night overnight stipend for weeks spent on-site.
Schedule: 65 days split between in-office work and on-site work

POSITION PURPOSE:
Manage the overall Outdoor School program at an Outdoor School site. As the acting site director in an overnight setting, the Site Supervisor is responsible for the development and coaching of program staff, high-level behavior interventions with students, site-wide community development, program management and adherence to MESD board policies. MESD Outdoor School is committed to providing students with an outdoor experience that is culturally responsive, student-centered, and inclusive of every child.

Outdoor School is a program focused on Oregon’s youth to become active and knowledgeable citizens, teaching the natural wonders and phenomena of Oregon outdoors. Outdoor School teaches students how nature works to empower students to become engaged scientists and citizens within their communities. High school students provide mentorship and community development and are empowered to become teachers themselves, teaching hands-on immersive science in the field. Competent instructional staff are employed to ensure a rich, 24-hour, living experience where, without interruption, sixth grade students from the classroom to the outdoors where they can study those things best studied outdoors, plants, animals, water and soil. Staff are responsible for facilitating a fun, inclusive, safe and authentic experience for students. You act as a role model, mentor and community leader as they process and experience their week at Outdoor School.

This position is subject to board policies, administrative rules and procedures, department
regulations, and applicable state and federal statutes. This position carries no administrative
authority or responsibility. It carries the supervisory authority necessary to accomplish the
duties and responsibilities that are defined herein.

Work is performed at an overnight camp as well as in an office/school setting. Travel to school and program sites is a requirement. Work is performed in-person.

This position does not carry administrative authority. All commitments outside of authorized programs and services are subject to prior approval by the supervisor of this position.
