The Rosslyn Business Improvement District (BID) is dedicated to transforming Rosslyn, Virginia, into a vibrant, urban community through innovative placemaking, economic development, and community engagement. The Role

The Marketing & Communications Department is responsible for all the Rosslyn BID’s external communication efforts including content creation, website maintenance, social media strategy and execution, ad buys, events promotion, retail support, public relations, and branding.

Our small and dynamic team is dedicated to producing strategic programming and initiatives at the highest levels of creativity to consistently enhance the neighborhood and foster community engagement in Rosslyn. The Digital Content Coordinator is a creative role responsible for crafting written content, reviewing, and scheduling content across digital platforms, including website, social media, and email marketing/newsletter. This role reports to the Marketing Manager and is offered a hybrid working schedule.

Responsibilities

Social Media and Content Development:

  • Generate topic ideas and strategies for articles, social media posts, and email marketing campaigns with the marketing manager to grow the BID’s digital audience.
  • Produce engaging content for distribution across multiple platforms.
  • Assist in developing and implementing an effective video strategy tailored to social media platforms to enhance engagement and reach.
  • Write, develop, and deploy weekly e-blasts. Facilitate e-blast reviews and approvals with both internal and external stakeholders prior to deployment.
  • Manage the creation and curation of content on the BID’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter/X, Threads, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to design, deploy, and update webpages as needed. Work with the Events team to maintain BID’s event calendar.
  • Occasionally attend evening and weekend events to provide live social media coverage.

Creative and Digital Assets:

  • Curate, tag, and manage digital assets including photos, videos, and graphics for campaigns and promotions.
  • Collaborate with the MarCom team and external vendors including graphic designers, photographers, videographers, and advertising specialists to develop well-rounded campaigns and content.
  • Write creative briefs, storyboards, and scripts and develop presentations as needed.
  • Provide support on design projects related to social media and external event web pages (e.g., resizing images, taking pictures for live posting at events)

Operational:

  • Meet with and assist marketing manager and director in developing copy, graphics, QR codes, and ordering print materials.
  • Create and manage physical backups for photos/videos
  • Monitor all digital platforms and engagement daily, responding to or escalating inquiries as needed
  • Serve as the facilitator for external inquiries; assess inquiries and connect with the appropriate member of the BID staff to address the issue—taking a first draft of responses whenever possible.
  • Generate monthly and ad-hoc reports (Sprout Social; Google Analytics)
  • Research industry-specific trends and current events.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism preferred
  • 2 years of experience in content related roles
  • Excellent communication and writing skills required
  • Strong project management and can demonstrate the ability to meet deadlines and execute deliverables in a timely manner.
  • Social Media (including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, Threads, LinkedIn, and TikTok). Familiarity with Sprout Social for management and scheduling.
  • Content and digital asset management (photo/video library)
  • Familiarity with web content management and email marketing platforms (such as Mailchimp)
  • Design and editing skills (photo, video, and copy). Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Creative & collaborative, with high attention to detail
  • Strong organization skills and ability to manage and monitor multiple digital platforms
  • Self-motivated – ability to take initiative and ownership of projects
