Meadowlark Design+Build is Hiring an Architectural Designer - Residential Projects Near Ann Arbor, MI

Essential Functions (what you’ll be doing)

Design Development Product Quality

  • Create and develop architectural designs for residential projects, including custom homes, renovations, and additions.
  • Produce detailed architectural drawings and plans using industry-standard software 
  • Integrate sustainable and energy-efficient design principles into projects.
  • Ensure all designs comply with local building codes and compliance standards.
  • Prepare and submit necessary documentation for permits and approvals.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to colleagues.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design specifications.
  • Address any issues or discrepancies that arise during construction.

Outstanding Customer Service

  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, preferences, and level of investment, and set appropriate expectations for Meadowlark services.
  • Guide clients through our process, providing them with necessary investment options (deducts add options) and concepts to solve remodeling pains 
  • Present design concepts and proposals to clients, incorporating their feedback into final designs.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with clients to provide updates and address any concerns, and to buildlifelong relationships encouraging repeat business and referrals.

Design Methodology Improvement

  • Demonstrate proficiency in design, selection programs and office applications
  • Develop strategies for efficiently producing and documenting information
  • Work with Design Manager to continuously improve templates & systems
  • Proactively gather information on, and help, adopt new products and methods

Efficiency

  • Complete weekly deadlines and account for time detailed to the ¼ hour
  • Maintain an average utilization rate of 70 - 80% (based on 40 fixed weekly hours)
  • Avoid client financial pressure through efficient work and appropriate time reporting

Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with colleagues assigned to projects to develop cohesive and innovative design solutions throughout the project’s lifecycle.
  • Attend external events to build a strong Meadowlark community.
  • Provide relevant content for Meadowlark’s social media and blog
