The Times Center is Hiring a Lighting Technician (Part-Time) Near New York, NY

Located within The New York Times corporate headquarters in New York City, The Times Center is a world-class, state-of-the-art special events venue hosting approximately 200 corporate and arts events annually, including New York Times specific events.

Times Center Technicians are responsible for the technical execution of events in the venue, across a variety of departments.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Operate and program the lighting console to execute clients' design concepts
  • Hang, focus, and maintain various lighting instruments (conventionals, moving lights, etc.)
  • Participate in the rigging of scenic elements on an as-needed basis
  • Practice good headset etiquette during events
  • Move items like furniture and equipment throughout the venue
  • Assist cross-department with load-in, setup, and load-out
  • Maintain cleanliness of storage and production areas

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years experience in live events and/or corporate lighting production
  • 2-3 years experience programming an ETC eos family lighting console
  • 2-3 years experience in theatrical rigging and safety procedures
  • Working knowledge of DMX data flow
  • Ability to understand and interpret lighting plots and designs
  • Knowledge of lighting for cameras and live streaming
  • You are a flexible team player
  • You are punctual, and ready to approach work as presented with a good attitude
  • Ability to lift up to 60lbs
  • Ability to operate a vertical lift
  • Ability to work from varying heights

Please Note: We are currently hiring for the Fall 2024 season

All Times Center Technicians are casual employees and members of The NewsGuild of New York. They report to Department Leads and the Supervising Production Manager. The rate for this role is $38/hr.
