Title: Paralegal - Remote

Type of Position: Part-Time (25-30 hours/week)

Job Responsibilities To Include

• Create, merge, and edit documents using Adobe and compose legal documents in Word;
• Schedule virtual meetings and add calendar dates from court orders;
• Maintain office records including client files on the shared drive and contacts within Outlook; 
• Draft and send retainer letters to new clients; 
• Prepare and send monthly billing to clients using PracticePanther;
• Utilize Dropbox to send documents and compile discovery logs for records received and sent;
• E-file court documents utilizing NYSCEF;
• Occasionally communicate with clients over email; 
• Mail forms at FedEx.

Requirements 

• Be available to take calls in the afternoon (mid to later day) and available 5 days per week
• The ability to work well with someone that uses direct communication 
• Excellent written communication and reading comprehension skills
• Very detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable for changing work priorities 
• Demonstrate a calm and collected demeanor with a strong work ethic 
• Proactive and able to know what to do next without always being given direction 
• Take initiative on determining how systems, processes, and software can be improved 
• Exhibit a balance of being resourceful but also being able to seek guidance when needed
• Have an interest in family law and an understanding of client confidentiality

Preferred

• Resides in New York State 
• Experience working at a matrimonial firm that handles litigation
• Software-savvy with a knack for optimizing administrative and office processes 
• Experience drafting legal forms
• Proficiency with creating, merging, and editing documents 
• E-filing experience with NYSCEF
• Experience with PracticePanther
