About Alcoholics Anonymous
Founded in 1935, Alcoholics Anonymous World Services (A.A.W.S.) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and an international fellowship of people who have had a drinking problem. The Alcoholics Anonymous fellowship is nonprofessional, self-supporting, multiracial, apolitical, and available almost everywhere. The General Service Office (G.S.O.) in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City employs approximately 85 individuals (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) and serves over 2 million members in the US and Canada.
Our mission at the G.S.O. is to support carrying the message of Alcoholics Anonymous to the still-suffering alcoholic by providing services to A.A. members, groups, and others; publishing and distributing A.A literature, preserving A.A. history, and sharing A.A.’s collective experience. Not only is our team incredibly mission-driven, but also tremendously supportive of each other as both colleagues and individuals.
Job Summary
The Staff Assistant provides administrative support and assistance to Staff Services assignments. This important role works directly with a Staff Member on a specific assignment such as Public Information, Communication with Professional Communities, and Corrections, and is responsible for completing tasks to ensure efficient operation of the assignment. Responsibilities include scheduling, research, internal and external communication, taking meeting minutes, reporting, organization and more.
This is a great opportunity for someone with strong communication, administration and customer service skills to work with an amazing team supporting an important mission. The Staff Assistant reports to the Staff Services Manager with a dotted line reporting to the Staff Member on their assignment.

This position is in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of New York City; we currently work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
Pay & Benefits
This is a salaried, non-exempt position with an annual pay rate of $50,000 plus approved overtime.
