Connected Development is Hiring a System Test Engineer Near Cary, NC

The System Test Engineer will be responsible for developing test plans, test specifications, and test procedures for Internet of Things (IoT) products and solutions.This engineer will review product requirement documentation to generate test plans and test specifications for a wide range of IoT products, composing these documents for internal and external customer review. The engineer will complete testing on prototype products, generating test results that will drive the creation of defect reports where necessary and, ultimately, product modifications.
Connected Development is a part of Exponential Technology Group (XTG).XTG is part of the TTI Family of Companies and is a specialist in the electronic component distribution and design engineering services industries.This position will report to the Director, System Development.This position will be onsite in Cary, NC.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop and execute detailed test plans and test cases for IoT devices and systems, including both hardware and software components.
Perform functional, performance, scalability, and reliability testing to identify and resolve system-level issues.
Work closely with the development team to understand system design and requirements, ensuring comprehensive test coverage.
Utilize automated testing tools and frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
Analyze test results, report defects, and track bug resolution, providing regular updates to the project team.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, software developers, and product managers, to ensure integration and end-to-end system functionality.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing strategies, tools, and practices.
Stay abreast of the latest testing methodologies, IoT technologies, and industry trends to incorporate best practices into testing processes.
Additional duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science and 5 years industry experience, or equivalent combination thereof. Five plus years of related experience in software development, firmware development, or cloud services, such as Azure or AWS, with direct customer support experience preferred.
SKILLS & CERTIFICATIONS
  • Understanding and experience using Linux from a technical user perspective.
  • Familiarity and ability to acquire additional knowledge in networking fundamentals such as TCP/IP, UDP, subnetting, VLANs, VPNs and network security.
  • Understanding of networking equipment such as gateways, routers, switches and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi and Cellular.
  • Ability to use scripting languages such as Bash, JavaScript, Python, or Ruby.
  • Requirement analysis and test definition skills are required for product test planning and specification documents.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong interpersonal relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are required to aid in solution development and assist customers with field issues and resolutions.
  • Continuous learning: the technology field is constantly evolving, so a commitment to ongoing education and staying current with new technologies and best practices is necessary.
  • Appropriate certifications, such as CCNA, CCNP, JNCA, would be considered a major plus.
