Job Title: Custodian/Back of House Assistant

We are looking for a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian/Back-of-House Assistant to join our team. Job Summary:

The Custodian will maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of our museum galleries and offices. Duties include general cleaning, waste disposal, and minor maintenance tasks. This position will also support events by setting up, breaking down, and cleaning event spaces. The ideal candidate will be proactive, trustworthy, and committed to upholding high standards of hygiene and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, kitchens, and other common areas.
• Dispose of trash and recycling materials appropriately.
• Restock supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, and soap.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to the supervisor.
• Ensure all cleaning equipment and materials are used and stored safely.
• Follow established cleaning procedures and protocols.
• Assist with setting up and breaking down for events or meetings as needed.
• Handle AV equipment and ensure proper storage after events.
• Wash dishes and glasses during events, ensuring they are cleaned and stored properly.
• Maintain the patio and spot-clean walls, and check the walk-in refrigerator for cleanliness.
• Perform minor repairs and keep storage areas organized.
• Ensure trash is appropriately bagged and taken to the curb on designated days.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous custodial or janitorial experience required.
• A food handling license is required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and perform physical tasks.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Reliable and punctual.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
