ACK Marine & General Contracting is a marine heavy-civil, commercial diving, dredging, & general construction company with its headquarters in Quincy, Massachusetts. ACK Marine is seeking a Project Manager who desires to be part of our team for the New England Area (MA, RI, CT, NH, ME).

ROLE: PROJECT MANAGER

The Project Manager works within the Construction Team which is responsible to plan and oversee the project to ensure a timely and cost-effective outcome. This includes budgeting, organization, implementation, and scheduling of the project. Ensure the project is constructed in a safe, ethical manner and in compliance with all federal, state, and local laws. The Project Management Team can vary greatly depending on the size and complexity of the projects, which in turn will affect the number of responsibilities the Project Manager will be involved in.

Responsibilities

· Responsible for the safety of all assigned employees and subcontractors to ensure the safe execution of all activities, including the strict adherence to company safety policies and programs through the communication and enforcement of the ACK Marine’s Health & Safety Management Program, including the ability to independently stop work for a safety violation or suspected safety violation.

· Hiring and recommend termination of subcontractors / vendors including negotiations, sub agreements, material agreements and PO’s.

· Management of subcontractors and vendors schedule, performance, and payments, including the exercise of decision-making to reschedule and/or re-coordinate work to ensure compliance with applicable project schedules.

· Ensure compliance with project and any MBE/WBE/DBE compliance programs.

· Complete understanding of the contract including ACK Marine’s contractual obligations and the owners’ obligations.

· Identify Project Risk and independently develop Mitigation Plans.

· Ensure timely notices as required to the owner to protect ACK Marine’s interests regarding extra work, design changes, delays, impacts, etc., which requires independent contract analysis.

· Manage project claims in collaboration with ACK Marine.

· Project submittals, process RFIs & shop drawings, as required by the Owner.

· Develop and maintain site logistics plan with Superintendent staff.

· Ensure the project delivers a quality product meeting ACK Marine high-quality standard.

We’re Looking For

· Functions effectively as part of a team.

· Ability to read and comprehend specs and plans and work with a team to develop those into work plans for projects

· A strong competence of safety in construction, an ability to see, identify and mitigate against workplace hazards, and a willingness to continually improve the safety of each project

· Computer proficient and the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes.

· Strong written, communication, and problem-solving skills.

· Estimating skills are a plus.

· Proficiency in AutoCAD is a plus.

· Demonstrates good management and leadership skills.

· Excellent time management and organizational skills.

· Good math/accounting skills.

· General understanding of industry Ability to always maintain discretion and confidentiality.

· Ready and willing to learn new skills to enhance their career growth.

· Bachelor of Science in Construction or Engineering preferred, but experience may be considered in lieu of same.

· 2 years of industry experience required.

· Must have knowledge or experience of deep foundation and/or earth support systems.

Physical Requirements

· Must have an excellent driving record

· Must be able to work outdoors on various terrain in a wide range of weather conditions

· Must be able to lift and carry up to 50lb.

· Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone and in person.

· Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with all federal, state and local standards, must follow OSHA regulations. Safety is a top priority and of the utmost important for our entire organization.
