4.0 Principal's Duties
4.1 Duties: The Principal will be responsible for developing an innovative academic curriculum and
an inclusive learning culture at the School. The specifics of the Principal's duties are outlined below:
4.1.1 Lead the School through its pre-launch, launch, growth and development.
4.1.2 Be responsible for the day-to-day management of the School, its faculty and students, and
oversee the provision of an outstanding educational experience.
4.1.3 Engage with external bodies for the benefit of the School, and ensure the School anticipates
changes in the competitive external landscape in which it operates.
4.1.4 Lead student recruitment and marketing efforts to meet agreed enrolment targets, and to
build an efficient, professional admissions function.
4.1.5 Work with Harrow School and Amity Education Group to translate strategic visions into specific and measurable development plans and targets.
4.1.6 Operate the School in accordance with the Harrow Standards with external
inspection/accreditation against the British Schools Overseas standards.
4.1.7 Report regularly on the progress of the School and attend all meetings of the Governing Body.
4.1.8 Build a strong, productive working relationship with the School and with other Principals and
Heads within the Harrow Family of Schools.
4.1.9 Appoint, lead, and inspire a high-performing Leadership Team.
4.1.10 Oversee the appointment of high-quality management, administrative, and support staff.
4.1.11 Promote the professional development of staff and provide appropriate support, guidance,
and training activities.
4.1.12 Work with the Governing Body and the Senior Leadership Team of Amity to ensure the
effective financial management of the School.
4.1.13 Recruit, retain and develop the best teachers and leaders from across the globe, building high performing staff with a strong blend of IB and US curriculum experience.
4.1.14 Oversee the effective development and implementation of the curriculum, while maintaining
strong and current knowledge of the latest pedagogical developments globally.
4.1.15 Deliver the highest standards of pastoral care, ensuring that student welfare, and the social,
moral, and personal development of students inform all decisions made within the School.
4.1.16 Bring commitment to, and promote, the safeguarding and wellbeing of students, anticipating and engaging with best practice on safeguarding and compliance in global education.
4.1.17 Support the Designated Safeguarding Lead in developing holistic safeguarding and
championing a safe and secure environment for all students and staff and other members of the
Harrow New York Community.
4.1.18 Work with the Governing Body and the Senior Leadership Team of Amity to ensure Harrow
New York's compliance in all regulatory areas.
