Job Title: Commercial Coordinator

Location: Houston, TX

Terms: Full Time. Hybrid office schedule

Compensation: Commensurate with experience, the individual’s, and the team’s performance.

US Ocean provides global transportation and logistics solutions for the movement of military humanitarian aid, breakbulk, and project cargoes. The company operates six vessel and has the largest and youngest fleet of multi-purpose vessels flying the U.S. Flag. US Ocean is a subsidiary of Waterman Logistics.

Role

US Ocean is seeking the right candidate to fill a key role, the new Commercial Coordinator. The primary focus of this role is the coordination of bids for U.S Flag impelled cargo opportunities. These are cargoes that are funded, either directly or indirectly, with federal funds. The coordinator will be tasked with evaluating and pursuing both commercial market and military cargoes for carriage on the Company’s U.S. Flag vessels. The scope of these cargo bids may often require extension of the scope to include use of multimodal forms of conveyance.

Candidates are encouraged to think outside of the box. There are always new challenges on the horizon and ways to improve, even in a business as old as shipping. This position will challenge the coordinator to come up with creative solutions by matching multiple fleet schedules and modes of transportation with various bids. This role will require constant interaction and communication with the Operations team to ensure the successful execution of projects. Responsibilities & Duties

a. Identification and pursuit of chartering opportunities (Military and Commercial)

b. Voyage calculations and pricing of both near-term and long-term project cargoes.

c. Packaging intermodal bids (Military and Commercial)

d. Administration of quoting system. Emphasis on visibility within team and timely communications with customers

e. Project monitoring

f. Tracking US Military Cargo Flows (Historic & Projected)

Requirements & Skills

a. Ability to multi-task

b. Understanding of terms and conditions for contracts of carriage and carriage of breakbulk cargoes.

c. Strong verbal and written communication skills

d. Attention to detail.

e. Minimum of bachelor’s degree (preferably in a Maritime Business Administration or Transportation).

f. Minimum three (3) years of experience in the transportation industry is preferred but candidates with less experience will still receive consideration.
