New Jersey Coalition to End Homelessness is Hiring an AmeriCorps Program Manager Near Princeton, NJ

Lead the Change: AmeriCorps Program Manager for Innovative Homeless Shelter Solutions in NJ

Who We Are:

The New Jersey Coalition to End Homelessness (NJCEH) is a statewide, social impact organization [a 501(c)(3) non-profit] with one goal: to eradicate homelessness in New Jersey. Toward that end, the Coalition will advocate, educate, organize and, if necessary, litigate for emergency and permanent solutions to homelessness.

At the Coalition, our plan for improving shelters across the state is two-fold:

  • Help the policymakers get it right by promoting common sense, proven ideas backed by the wisdom of people on the frontlines of helping the homeless, and people with lived experience of homelessness.
  • Help the helpers do it right through unprecedented collaboration and support among New Jersey shelters.

To help the helpers get it right, we have created an AmeriCorps program that will change the culture at shelters by enhancing the services that were provided to clients and expanding the shelters’ offerings. We will have 15 full-time AmeriCorps members placed at shelters throughout the state to help shelter clients have everything they need in place to obtain and maintain affordable housing. Your role is vital in creating a meaningful program that is beneficial to both our AmeriCorps participants, the shelters that they serve, and the clients that they work alongside. You will be essential in creating and managing a program that will create meaningful change in homeless shelters in NJ and will serve as an example for shelters nationwide.

  • Create a system for tracking performance measures and gathering data on the program's effectiveness
  • Update and manage documents related to procedures to ensure ethical, safe, and well-documented field placements

Grant and Program Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with host sites (10-15 homeless shelters or outreach providers throughout the state)
  • Meet monthly with members to ensure success of their year, that they are meeting their goals, and are fulfilling the requirements of the grant
  • Collect feedback from partners, members, sites, and staff to implement programmatic changes to create a culture of continuous improvement
  • Offer meaningful member gatherings including leadership development on a monthly basis to allow all members to create a sense of community

Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Submit quarterly financial and progress reports utilizing the AmeriCorps system
  • Identify and navigate relationships with the AmeriCorps team
  • Ensure compliance with AmeriCorps requirements
  • Participate in AmeriCorps led meetings and conferences as needed
  • Engage in other professional development opportunities as desired

Who You Are:
