Now Let Us Tell You About The RoleJoin our dynamic waste recycling team as a Planning Officer working as an integral member of our projects team, aiding the expansion and continued growth of the business.
Working alongside our property, operations and projects teams, the successful candidate will work on a diverse range of renewable energy and waste projects, predominantly in Ireland but with support also to the UK business. The work will be challenging and varied, ranging from preparing and submitting planning applications to providing strategic level planning advice including and advising on consenting processes and strategies.
For the right candidate there will also be opportunities to project manage a team in the delivery of environmental reports and EIAR’s for renewable energy projects. This position offers exposure to the significantly expanding Irish and UK renewable energy and recycling sectors.
Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with local authorities to obtain necessary planning permissions for waste recycling and renewable energy facilities.
  • Conduct site assessments and feasibility studies to determine the suitability of locations for new recycling initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with regulatory bodies to stay abreast of evolving waste management policies, regulations and guidelines.
  • Prepare and submit planning applications, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.
  • Coordinate with engineering and environmental teams to integrate sustainable practices into project plans.
  • Monitor and report on planning-related developments, advising management on potential impacts and opportunities.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of planning processes, permits, and correspondence.
Skills / Qualifications
  • Degree or Masters in Town Planning or Environmental Science
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in planning and environmental roles.
  • Extensive town planning experience and expert knowledge of planning and environmental legislation.
  • Corporate/Chartered Member of the IPI/RTPI
  • Experience of preparing and submitting planning applications, drafting reports, feasibility studies, masterplans and planning strategies for a wide range of projects
  • Experience of working with a range of client bodies including both private sector and public sector
  • Previous experience of having an active role in the delivery of varied environmental projects would be beneficial
  • Experience in overseeing, and/or project managing multidisciplinary projects
  • Experience of team working to support the delivery of projects
  • Proven experience in planning and permitting processes, preferably within the waste management or recycling sector.
  • Knowledge of waste management regulations and policies would be desirable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with external stakeholders and internal teams.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organisational and project management abilities.
  • Ability to navigate and interpret complex regulatory frameworks.
