Basic Requirements

In order to qualify for a position you MUST be U.S. Citizens and have a degree in auditing; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, public administration or accounting. OR at least 4 years of experience in Performance Auditing, or an equivalent combination of performance auditing experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional auditing knowledge. Background must also include one of the following:

1. A certificate as a Certified Internal Auditor or a Certified Public Accountant, obtained through written examination; or
2. Completion of the requirements for a degree that included substantial course work in auditing or accounting, e.g., 15 semester hours.

Occasional travel - May require up to 25% of temporary travel duty (TDY); Note: Some positions may require additional travel to contingency operations locations, such as Southwest Asia. This travel would generally be between 2-4 weeks, and may include benefits, such as danger pay, post differential, and overtime.

2. Unofficial College Transcripts (required if selected for an interview) - must include name of accredited institution, grades earned, quarter or semester hours earned, and date degree conferred. All applicants, to include current agency employees must provide transcripts with their application.

Our auditors strive to make the DoD more efficient and effective by conducting sophisticated program and financial reviews and assessing the Department’s efforts to protect its information systems and data. Our reviews influence how the DoD spends tax dollars, runs its programs, and conducts its activities. As an Auditor, you will learn new skills and assume new responsibilities, such as:

1. Participating in and designing reviews of management operations.
2. Evaluating DoD activities to ensure that they are efficient, effective, and economical.
3. Briefing senior officials on complex issues.
4. Writing reports that identify management trends, improper practices, or recommended improvements.
5. Developing new ways to approach challenges within DoD programs or operations that maximize their effectiveness.
