Archdiocese of Detroit is Hiring a High School English Teacher Near Allen, MI

Position Description
St. Frances High School and Academy is a co-educational, Catholic parish and school community. Our parish school is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and qualified full time English teacher to join our staff for the 2023-2024 school year.
A Cabrini education is rooted the teachings of Jesus Christ, the traditional teachings of the Catholic Church, and the school’s mission of doing “All things through Christ” (Phil. 4:13) within a community that emphasizes respect, kindness and love of Christ and each other.
Cabrini faculty strives to provide a faith-filled learning atmosphere with appropriate lessons and activities aimed at raising student learning outcomes. Students will learn to hone communication skills, and content knowledge. They will grow emotionally, socially, and spiritually through an English curriculum that is aimed at development of the whole student. The teacher has decision-making responsibilities within the day-to-day job expectations, in supporting school policies, and helping students reach desired learning outcomes
Position Expectations:
The teacher will:
  • support and honor the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of Cabrini’s parish school.
  • embrace and model Gospel values as taught by Jesus Christ.
  • supports and adhere to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of Cabrini and Archdiocese of Detroit.
  • keep confidentiality regarding school, student, faculty and parent matters.
  • plans lessons with objectives, based on departmental curriculum.
  • provide appropriate material and resources engaging and effective learning.
  • employ effective instructional methods based on standards, best practices, and data.
  • use various assessment practices to provide formative and summative assessments.
  • provide instruction and assessment to support student understanding.
  • maintains current and accurate records according to school policies.
  • practice positive, consistent classroom management.
  • communicate and conference with parents regarding positive experiences, as well as to address academic, behavioral, or safety concerns in a timely manner.
  • meet professional development according to Archdiocese of Detroit and school.
  • Attend schedule staff meetings.
  • model professionalism in conduct, inter-personal interactions and workplace practices.
  • collaborate within the department for instructional planning and curriculum alignment.
  • meet individual learning needs of students and apply approved learning accommodations for students as determined by various learning plans.
  • collaborate with other content area teachers on cross-curricular projects.
Qualifications/Requirements:
Applying teachers should hold the appropriate endorsement for the subject(s) they are assigned to teach. The successful candidate for this position should be certified by the State of Michigan to teach English and hold a BA endorsement. Previous secondary school teaching experience is highly desired.
