The Impact You Will Make

The Leave of Absence Specialist provides support to the Everstory team by managing all leaves of absence for the organization. Reporting to the Director of Employee Relations, this role will serve as the initial contact for employee absences, leave requests and will support worker’s compensation claims. The LOA Specialist will also provide Employee Relations support with unemployment claims and investigations as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Answer, track and file leaves of absence email requests and supporting documentation.
  • Work closely with field management and FMLASource to administer and process leave programs.
  • Assist with requests for ADA accommodations.
  • Work with employees and field management during the entire leave of absence process including return to work protocol.
  • Works with the Risk team for all Workers Compensation cases.
  • Follow all company policies including county, state and federal guidelines as it relates to leaves of absences.
  • Work with colleagues in HR and field management to assist in areas including employment, Employee Relations, compliance and leaves of absences.
  • Complete and request documentation for unemployment claims.
  • Complete all verifications of employment.
  • Process, track and file department paperwork.
  • Take notes for calls and/or investigations to support the Employee Relations Team.
  • Support the department and/or management with administrative tasks as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Some college coursework in HR strongly preferred.
  • 3 years of experience handling leaves of absences required.
  • Experience with FMLA requests and ADA accommodations required.
  • Corporate experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently under minimal supervision.
  • Excellent administrative skills including knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to maintain composure in stressful situations.

Work Environment:

  • On-site (Support Center, M-F required) .
  • While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; stand and walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear.
  • This position operates in a professional office environment which may be noisy or disruptive at times.
  • The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and fax machines.
