The Pulpo Group is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Ann Arbor, MI

The Director of Human Resources is an inspirational and innovative professional who provides leadership, strategic, and tactical Human Resources support to our people, operations, and financial objectives. This role will provide full-scale human resource expertise including recruitment of major positions, onboarding, employee relations, compliance, policy and procedure advice, employee benefits support, and leadership support for HR best practices and guidance. The Director of Human Resources embodies and instills values-driven decision-making.

RESPONSIBILITIESLEADERSHIP

  • Embodies and teaches The Pulpo Group values in action.
  • Be the expert on our policies and philosophies of leading this organization. Uphold these policies in practice and guide management to do so – unconditionally and consistently.
  • Guide and assist General Managers, Chefs, and Managers with coaching, discipline, terminations, and other HR matters as required.
  • Approach personnel issues individually, guided by company values and policies.
  • Offer advice on effective coaching techniques and managing challenging discussions. Offer coaching sessions to all managers seeking assistance.

COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure that the company adheres to legal standards and in-house policies. Accountable for enforcing state/federal regulations across all levels in the company, while also offering guidance on compliance matters.
  • Provide ownership & partners with timely and relevant policy recommendations that benefit all stakeholders.
  • Expert on the Employee Handbook; reviewing annually with stakeholders and maintaining it up to date.

RECRUITMENT & RETENTION

  • Recruit the best talent for leadership positions who embody both the behaviors and the technical skills required to be successful.
  • Institute, analyze, and maintain bi-annual surveys and culture assessments with our team’s to measure effectiveness of hiring, skills training, leadership development, and overall retention.
  • Build and oversee a robust Employee Performance Evaluation process and tracking system. Track all management evaluations and ensure that the frontline evaluations are done on-time consistently.

ADMINISTRATIVE & BENEFITS

  • Maintain an employee filing system for hiring documents, signed offers, policies, and job agreements. Manage personnel and I-9 files.
  • Track and onboard qualified team members for benefits.
  • Track ACA-eligible employees and handle year-end ACA reporting.
  • Manage unemployment protests and workers' compensation programs.
  • Supervise paid time off policies and ensure accurate PTO tracking through our third-party system.
  • Ensures compliance with employment laws and regulations. Handle employment relations and analyze data to report on HR metrics for informed decision-making.
  • Ensures accuracy of payroll – overseeing and partnering with the location leaders to ensure consistent adherence to protocol and timeliness of weekly checkpoints.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
