Asheville Ear Nose and Throat is Hiring a Hearing Instrument Specialist Near Asheville, NC

PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS:

Administers Tests

  • Conducts air and bone conduction threshold measurements
  • Conducts pure tone masking procedures, tone decay testing, and Speech Discrimination (SD) tests
  • Obtains Speech Reception Thresholds (SRT)
  • Establishes Most Comfortable Listening Level (MCL)
  • Determines Uncomfortable Listening Level (UCL/LDL)
  • Uses speech masking
  • Performs Tympanometry
  • Obtains Acoustic Reflexes Ipsilaterally and Contralaterally
  • Operates the audiometer
  • Utilizes otoacoustic emission equipment (OAE)
  • Coordinates and interprets test results
  • Completes chart notes for each patient seen and sends written report to referring physician and primary care physician

Manages Hearing Rehabilitation

  • Counsels patients regarding test results
  • Makes recommendation regarding hearing care options
  • Thoroughly explain the actual and realistic expected results and capabilities of the hearing instrument in restoration of the patient's hearing
  • Reviews products available to improve hearing impairment
  • Sells appropriate hearing care products and warranties as deemed necessary to meet the needs of the patient
  • Provides hearing aid dispensing, including selection, fitting, ear-mold acoustics, ongoing management with follow-up, and education
  • Demonstrates and sells Assistive Listening Devices (ALD's), batteries, and other special products

Performs Fitting and Adjustments

  • Follows correct and timely fitting protocols
  • Conducts real-ear measurements
  • Performs functional gain testing
  • Demonstrates sound field measurement procedures
  • Performs correct programming, modifications, and acoustical adjustments
  • Provides insertion and removal practice and training for patients
  • Provides instructions on the care and use of the hearing instruments
  • Performs hearing aid repairs
  • Performs hearing aid checks and cleaning

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
