Embedded real-time software systems, communications, embedded databases, and human interfaces are all aspects of LayerZero’s core competency in software engineering. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to this broad range of software engineering disciplines. Excellence in customer communication is paramount to success in this role.
RequirementsPRIMARY DUTIES:This Position Embodies The Following Primary Duties
- Work with customers, both within LayerZero and end users, to define and capture requirements.
- Develop software system architectures to realize complex requirements.
- Use state of the art software techniques to design applications for new products.
- Take ownership of and maintain existing software subsystems.
- Evaluate and manage the addition of new features and bug fixes to existing systems.
- Develop in-depth understanding of complex SoC, DSP, FPGA, and similar components.
- Partition large development efforts into manageable projects that can be delegated to other software engineers.
- Develop testing strategies for complex, configurable applications.
- Manage product life-cycle trajectory.
- Participate in software team code reviews via on-line tools.
- Enhance the new product development process.
- Provide product technical support.
- Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Master of Science in Computer Engineering or Master’s Degree in Computer Science – Required.
- Ph.D. in the above disciplines – Highly Desired.
- A minimum of 10 years of success in full software lifecycle development from concept capture through end-of-life – Required.
- In-depth knowledge of C/C programming – Required.
- In-depth knowledge of operating systems, Linux, drivers, memory, processes, etc. – Required.
- In-depth knowledge of database tools such as MySQL. – Required.
- Working knowledge of UI design tools such as PHP, JavaScript, etc. – Required.
- Working knowledge of scripting languages and other open-source components, e.g., Python, Bash, etc. – Required.
- Practical skill in design and construction of useful, real-world items – Required.
- Hands-on experience in embedded real-time software development with embedded Linux or other embedded OS. -- Desired.
- Success with integrated hardware/software co-design. -- Desired.
- Experience with embedded Linux build frameworks such as Yocto or Buildroot – Desired.
- Experience with TCP/IP networking and industrial data communication protocols such as MODBUS/TCP, BACnet, and SNMP – Desired.
- Expertise with project management and defect management tools – Desired.
- Experience with Windows and Linux application development – Desired.
