We are looking for a lactation specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate for this position would be a certified lactation counselor/specialist or an IBCLC and have some experience with lactation counseling and facilitating a positive breastfeeding/infant feeding experience for both the parent and infant. The candidate should feel comfortable troubleshooting patient difficulties, providing applicable education, and making appropriate referrals as necessary.
We are looking for someone who can provide exceptional customer service and a caring approach. This job may include some parent and prenatal classes. Other attributes that would be helpful are organization, self-motivation, and reliability. The must maintain open lines of communications with current and potential clients per our policy.
Requirements:
· Current Lactation Counselor/Educator Certification (45 hours of lactation-specific education minimum) or current International Board Certified Lactation Counsultant (IBCLC)
· Facilitates breastfeeding/infant feeding support for postpartum clients
· Assists clients in reaching their own breastfeeding/infant feeding goals
· Communicates with team members, Pediatricians and OB/GYN providers to improve lactation support
· Reviews, updates, and evaluates suitable educational materials to facilitate understanding
· Adjusts teaching to meet patient and family needs
· Documents patient education and progress in accordance with practice standards within the EHR
· Maintains professional growth in the area of educational techniques to promote quality patient education services
· Facilitates prenatal classes as needed
· Willingness to work a flexible day shift schedule
· Demonstrate ability to set priorities for tasks to work effectively in spite of interruptions and under minimal supervision. Self-starter, reliable and dependable.
· Demonstrate ability to listen and communicate with others in a professional and caring manner including sensitivity with individuals from diverse cultures and lifestyles.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate clearly and effectively with participants, staff and others
· Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality about health care and other patient/client information.

Pay: $21.00 - $30.00 per hour
