Pawsh Pet Salon and Boutique is a pet grooming and pet supply business located in Bayfield, CO. Our knowledgeable and professional work in a fast-paced environment while providing highest quality dog grooming services in the area. We are looking to expand our current team to reach our vision of being the premier pet groomer in La Plata County. The ideal candidate is someone that has a passion for pet care and enjoys working with animals.

Responsibilities:

• Bathe and dry pets according to client specifications and breed standards
• Bathe pets using appropriate products for the dog’s coat type, condition, and spa service package
• Perform nail trims, ear cleaning, and anal gland expression as needed
• Brush and comb pet's fur and hair to remove tangles and mats
• May perform sanitary trims, paw pad trims, and nail clipping or grinding after properly trained
• Prepare all pets for full grooming service in a timely manner including bathing, drying, de-shedding, brushing, ear cleaning, and teeth brushing
• Ensure pets feel safe and are comfortable during the grooming process
• Handle pets with care and compassion, using proper handling methods as well as restraint techniques when necessary
• Maintain a clean and organized work area including the grooming room, bathing station and retail shop
• Answer incoming phone calls, check and review voicemails, return calls, and book grooming appointments
• Effectively communicate with team members for grooming appointments and ensure a smooth workflow
• Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns, preferences and answering client questions
• Utilize POS system to accurately book appointments and sell retail
• Assist groomers and management with various tasks as needed
• Assess, identify, and perform specific grooming needs for each dog based on breed, coat type, and individual requirements
• Monitor and maintain the overall health and well-being of dogs during grooming procedures, including checking for signs of skin issues, parasites, or other health concerns
• Educate pet owners on proper grooming techniques, coat maintenance, and at-home care routines tailored to their dog’s needs
• Stay up to date on industry trends, new grooming techniques, and products to enhance grooming services and client satisfaction
• Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Able to stand for 8 hours

Preferred Experience:

• 1 years of experience as a pet groomer
• Proficiency in breed-specific grooming techniques and styles for a variety of dog breeds, including hand-stripping, scissoring, and clipper work
• Knowledge of dog handling techniques, animal restraint, and dog training methods
• Experience working with dogs of various temperaments
• Familiarity with grooming equipment and tools, including clippers, shears, brushes, and grooming tables, and the ability to maintain and use them safely and effectively
• Knowledge of canine anatomy, common health issues, and first aid procedures in case of grooming-related accidents or emergencies
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with pet owners
• Basic knowledge of animal care and grooming techniques
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
