We are seeking an enthusiastic professional Maintenance Worker I who is passionate about cultivating the school's mission and objectives through student instruction, guidance and review in order to ensure successful development of each student. Because of our commitment to community, employment preference is given to residents who live in WV and the New River Community Technical College service area.
This position is a Full-time position for the Raleigh County Campus and will report directly to the Trades Specialist . The position will work collaboratively with management, faculty and staff within the department and college to serve the best interests of the students.
Job Summary
The Maintenance Worker I performs semi-skilled work related to the general maintenance and repair of buildings, recreational facilities, equipment, parking lots and garages, vehicles, and other institutional property.
Nature of Work
The Maintenance Worker I is responsible for performing preventative maintenance tasks as well as for assisting skilled craft workers on assignments. Job responsibilities involve the proper use and operation of assigned tools, equipment, and procedures, including routine and preventive repair and maintenance tasks such as conducting scheduled vehicle maintenance checks, repairing plaster and drywall, painting and striping lots and fields, cleaning and washing equipment and facilities, adjusting electrical and mechanical controls, and responding to requests for general maintenance needs. Additional responsibilities may include set up and break down of equipment and furniture for classes and events held at institutional facilities. Work is closely supervised and requires physical abilities such as trunk strength, manual dexterity, and wrist-finger movement to perform the essential functions of the position. This position receives supervision in the form of daily assignments/work orders, projects and tasks to be completed, working within specific guidelines and departmental procedures. Decisions are infrequent and errors could result in minor inconveniences and costs within the affected area.

Summary of Responsibilities: This position cleans, maintains and assists with repairs to grounds, fixtures, facilities and buildings on the Beaver Campus. This position will require travel between campuses to complete similar duties on other New River campuses/sites.
· Maintenance and Cleaning:
Provides support to maintenance workers, trade specialists as assigned by the supervisor. General custodial care of interior and exterior of buildings by sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, waxing and polishing floors. Clean and disinfects bathrooms and kitchenettes including walls, floors, fixtures, stalls, mirrors, lavatories, commodes, glass doors awnings and other items. Removal of trash from offices, commons areas, and outside areas. Sweeping, shoveling and removing of ice, and snow and debris from sidewalks, steps, roadways and entrances. Dispenses snow and ice melt as needed. Cutting grass, weed removal, unloading trucks, painting, provides support to maintenance workers and trades specialists as assigned by supervisor.
· Security Patrol:
As needed and for coverage. Patrols campus grounds & buildings, provides security presence campus/campus events. Monitor Systems and Procedures: Alarm systems, physical plant utility systems campus traffic/parking. Provide assistance to campus visitors, students, staff and faculty; minimize harm to Persons and Property; investigate all suspicious behaviors and updating security postings. Locking and Unlocking classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, exterior doors, gate, etc... Assisting with crisis management and other urgent situations.
· Crime Reports/Reporting:
Reports to proper authorities and supervisors all incidents, collaborate with local Law Enforcement.
· Miscellaneous and other duties as assigned including but not limited to:
Assisting with set-up and removal of event items, responding to requests from faculty, staff and students and the generic public, unloading and loading supplies, materials office furniture etc., storing supplies, and other assigned duties.
· Travel between campuses is required.

Experience
In addition to the knowledge/education, the following related work experience is typically required, for this position. An equivalent combination of education and recent, related experience may be acceptable.
6 months
Related experience in security, patrolling, monitoring/surveillance, experience is required.
Related experience in housekeeping, custodial, janitorial or grounds keeping experience is required.
