Spirit Maine's manufacturing facility has been a leading solutions provider of high temperature materials and composites for more than 50 years, serving the Department of Defense and NASA. The focus in Maine is on multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) that enable high-temperature components such as: thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips as well as rocket motor throats and nozzles.
Our materials are being used on ground-breaking space initiatives such as the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and the heat shield for NASA's Mars 2020 mission, important missile programs, airfoils in commercial and military jet engines, and as lightweight armor for U.S. military ground vehicles.
Your Role: Spirit New England is seeking a highly motived and goal oriented Program Manager to join their their Sales and Contracts team! This new position is responsible for planning, directing and coordinating all related activities to the project management of the company’s key contract programs and development programs. Additionally, responsible for planning, executing, and evaluating projects/ programs according to pre-determined timelines and budgets.
Job Responsibilities
  • Manage Project/Program development from initiation to closure
  • Oversee scheduling, pricing, and technical performance of the programs/projects
  • Ensure master plans and schedules are followed
  • Direct others for successful completion of the programs and/or projects
  • Accountable for project and/or program results along with the project sponsor
  • Work with project sponsor and stakeholders to complete project charter outlining, scope, goals, deliverables, required resources, budget and schedule
  • Complete work breakdown structure to estimate effort required for each task
  • Provide a project schedule to identify when each task will be performed
  • Coordinate with planning department and contracts manager to align the program schedule to the customer schedule requirements
  • Clearly communicate expectations to the organization, team members and stakeholders
  • Act as a mediator between stakeholders, team members and operations
  • Resolve issues and problems throughout the program and project cycles
  • Track and report on program and project milestones and provide weekly status reports
  • Establish and manage a set cadence of program and project reviews
  • Develop and monitor metrics to measure execution
  • Develop good understanding of cost and manage cost estimating efforts
  • Work with contracts manager to clearly articulate cost/schedule and how it is to be presented in a proposal
  • Develop tools and best practices for Program/Project Management
What We Need From You
  • Bachelors in a Technical Engineering and/or Business Management degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum 5 years of Project or Program Management experience
  • Holds a U.S. Security Clearance and/or the ability to obtain a clearance
  • Exceptional communication and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust focus and workflow based on changing priorities and needs
  • Highly motivated self-starter capable of working independently and on a team
  • Strong execution and customer focus that drives for results
  • Ability to interface with all levels of internal management as well as program sponsors and sub-contractors
  • Strong Business Acumen, action-orientated with timely decision-making capabilities
  • Good listening skills with interpersonal savvy
  • Expert in Microsoft Office suite
  • Planning and/or production management experience preferred
  • DoD and/or Aerospace program management experience a plus
