Archdiocese of Detroit is Hiring an Athletic Director Near Bloomfield, MI

The Organization:

Located in Bloomfield Hills, Marian is a Cat­­­holic college preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Sisters, Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. The mission of Marian High School is to ensure, within a Christian environment, an excellent education built on a strong academic curriculum, which will enable young women to value human diversity and live responsible lives of leadership and action based on gospel values.

Position overview:

Marian High School is actively seeking to fill this administrative position, full time, beginning immediately. The Athletic Director reports directly to the Principal and plays a crucial role in supporting the school’s administrative team. This position is responsible for managing all facets of the school’s athletic programming. The Athletic Director will serve the Marian Mission and Vision, first and foremost, in all decisions and practices. Please see below for a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Generate, maintain, and implement the Athletics Department budget
  • Develop contest schedules for the school’s three athletic seasons
  • Secure and supervise coaching staffs for 18 sports
  • Secure and maintain athletic equipment for 18 sports
  • Register student-athletes for Marian’s athletic programs
  • Secure transportation for coaches and student-athletes travelling to off-site contest locations
  • Oversee the maintenance and contest preparation of Marian’s athletic facilities
  • Secure athletic spaces at off-campus locations
  • Secure officials and security personnel for Marian contests
  • Supervise all athletic events hosted by Marian High School
  • Coordinate and distribute athletic awards
  • Communicate regularly with student-athletes, coaches, parents & guardians, parent organizations (Marian Athletic Club, Mothers’ Club, Dads’ Club), Marian faculty & staff, CHSL personnel, MHSAA personnel
  • Represent the Athletics Department at various non-athletic Marian events
  • *Other duties as assigned by the Principal
Qualifications - The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum)

  • At least 3 years of experience as a school building administrator

  • Varsity-level coaching experience

  • Experience administering athletic programming at the high school level
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills

  • Comfort and experience with technology necessary for the role (includes hardware, software, and social media)
  • Ability to navigate difficult conversations with empathy and clarity

  • Commitment to fostering a positive and collaborative school culture

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • A valid Michigan Driver License
Timeline and process:
Applications will be accepted and reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled, with aim to complete the hiring process by mid-late July. To accommodate summer schedules, portions of the interview process will be conducted via video conferencing. Final round interviews will be in person on campus.
