POLYWATER is Hiring a Buyer Near Bloomington, MN

Position Duties:

The Buyer assists the purchasing department in coordinating the purchase of goods and services for American Polywater, including forecasting, purchase order processing, vendor communication, inventory counts, and ERP maintenance. In addition will perform cost analysis to ensure accurate and timely purchase transactions. This position will work directly with suppliers and internal business resources and play a key role in helping to establish best practices across the organization while maintaining vendor relations. 

Core duties include:

· Enter purchase orders for commodities and/or products to meet production schedules across all divisions, must consider inventory parameters and lead times.

· Work with and assist the purchasing department in vendor management.

· Ensure efficiency of the process for all outside service suppliers including capacity, lead times, freight, and associated documentation and traceability.

· Manage open orders with associated vendors and update status via ERP system. Communicate any delays in material receipts and or planned production to the Supply Chain Manager.

· Basic knowledge of purchasing and negotiating methods, principles, and concepts. Knowledge of industry practices, general business operations, and policies.

· Participate in the disposition of non-conforming material to assure proper inventory management.

· Effectively communicate and present information to suppliers, team members, team leaders, and top management.

· Collaborate with department colleagues; develop and maintain a positive team-oriented work environment.

· Basic Knowledge of legal and regulatory requirements related to procurement. Effectively assess and implement continuous improvement principles and techniques.

· Perform inventory counts of raw and finished goods, and count verification incoming products and finished goods as required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

· Associates degree or equivalent level of combined education and experience.

· 3-5 of years of work experience, preferably in the product formulation industry.

· Experience working with industrial equipment in production environment.

· Proven team player with a can-do attitude. 

· Ability to work with minimal supervision once fully trained. 

· Self-directed; ability to make day-to-day decisions independently.

· Thrives working in a small, innovative team environment.

· Strong analytical skills: detail-driven individual with emphasis on accuracy with the ability to see the broader picture.

· Comfortable with computer systems and proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word.

· Entrepreneurial approach to doing business that includes a passion and aptitude for negotiating, strong sense of urgency, ability to optimize the financial and other performance aspects of procurement that ensure the companies continued success.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills. Language skills: English and [if any] are required, [other language] is desired.

· Professional business acumen: ability to interact and influence all levels within the organization.

· Ability to travel 5%.

Physical Requirements:

· Requires moderately strenuous physical activity at a sustained level over the course of a shift.

· Require ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds on a regular basis using assistive devices for moving materials greater than 50 pounds.

· Static Strength for lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying required.

· Trunk Strength using the lower back and stomach required.

· Multilimbed coordination using arms and/or legs together while sitting, standing, or lying down required.
