We are seeking a highly motivated Tax Accountant to join our client’s growing team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring their retail tax remains in compliance across various jurisdictions. You will leverage your technical skills and retail industry knowledge to prepare and file accurate tax returns, manage data analysis and collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders.
This Tax Accountant position could be remote, but preference will be given to candidates that could work hybrid in the Western Suburbs of Chicago.
Tax Accountant Responsibilities:

• Prepare and file various sales and use tax returns (e-filing)
• Manage data preparation and reconciliation for tax purposes
• Conduct use tax reviews for self-assessment
• Perform account reconciliations
• Research and analyze complex corporate tax issues
• Maintain knowledge of current tax regulations and legislation
• Independently manage workload and collaborate effectively with team members

Tax Accountant Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related business field
• 4 years of professional experience in a similar role
• Proven experience with sales and use tax compliance, including e-filing, return preparation and reconciliation
• Working knowledge of Excel (intermediate or advanced) with proficiency in formulas like VLOOKUP, PivotTables, SUMIF and COUNTIF
• Familiarity with data analysis tools like Tableau, PowerBI or Alteryx a plus
• Strong understanding of retail industry tax complexities
• Excellent communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
• Team player with a collaborative spirit
